TW: mentions of blood
The next morning Bailee woke up early. She got up just before sunrise and got out of bed. She had classes today but she decided she wanted to look really good because she was going to see Draco in defense against the dark arts. She ran to the bathroom and turned on the water for one of the many bathtubs. She put in bubbles and a new vanilla scented perfume. She got in and washed her hair, also with vanilla shampoo and conditioner. After her bath she dried off. Next was her hair. She combed through her still damp hair. She dried her hair with an old t-shirt and sprayed conditioning spray to keep her slightly curly hair from tangling. She decided to put on some mascara. She had never used mascara before but she got the hang of it quickly. She put on her favorite plaid skirt and her favorite blouse with a red tie. She fed Hedwig and then left the dormitory. Her bag was on one of the tables in the common room so she grabbed that too. Ron was coming out of his dormitory. He saw Bailee and looked to the floor. Once he reached the bottom of the staircase she blurted out
"Are you really just going to ignore me forever?"
"No" he said looking "just until you and Draco breakup"
"Why does it matter to you so much?"
"Because!" Said Ron. "He's dark and mysterious and he bullies younger children and..." Bailee cut him off
"Ron, I know you don't think he's a good person but when I was at a really bad point, he helped me. He brought me to you guys and he looks after me and I'll look after him."
Ron stared at her for a moment.
"Oh alright, I'll stop complaining."
"Thank you." Said Bailee
"By the way, you look really pretty today."
"Thank you." Bailee said with a soft chuckle and smile.
And with that they walked to defense against the dark arts.
Bailee opened the door to the classroom and stepped onto the beige tile as Ron followed. They sat down next to each other and began taking out their quills and parchment. Bailee looked around the classroom. Just then Draco walked through the classroom door followed by Goyle and Pansy. He looked around and then he saw Bailee. He smiled widely and began walking over to her.
"Hey. " he said.
"Hello," said Bailee.
Draco bent down and gave Bailee a small kiss. She smiled
"I'll see you after class," he said, still smiling. Bailee nodded. A few more people were coming into class. Someone had made a small white paper bird fly around the room and several people were trying to hit it down. Bailee was talking to Ron when the bird caught fire and burned up, leaving a small pile of ash on Parvati's desk. Almost everyone turned their head to see who it had been. It was the small woman that gave the speech at the great feast. She was wearing a pink suit and tiny pink shoes. She was surveying the class looking from student to student. Once she got to Bailee she paused for a second, then continued looking around the class.
"Good morning children!" she said in a fake honeyed voice.
"O...W...L...'s or more commonly known as OWL's." Bailee turned to Ron and snickered a little.
"Study hard and you will be rewarded, fail to do so and the consequences may be... severe."
She waved her wand and books from her desk started sorting themselves around the room and placing themselves on each student's desk.
"From now on, you will be following a carefully structured ministry approved course of defensive magic."
Ron raised his hand.
"Yes." she said, calling on Ron.
"There's nothing in here about using defensive spells." He said.
"Using spells... haha... I can't imagine why you would need to use spells in my classroom, you'll be learning about spells in a secure risk free way.
Bailee thought about this.
"Well what use is that? If we are going to be attacked it won't be risk free." She said,
"It is through the view of the ministry, that a theoretical knowledge will be sufficient to get you through your examinations which after all, is what school is all about!" Umridge remarked.
"And how is theory supposed to prepare us for what's out there?" Bailee said.
"There is nothing out there dear... Who do you imagine would want to attack innocent children such as yourselves."
"Oh I don't know!" said Bailee, her voice rising now, "Maybe... Lord Voldemort."
The class went silent. Someone dropped their pencil, Neville fell sideways off his chair. Umbridge started walking towards her.
"Let me make this, quite plain... you have been told that a certain dark wizard is at large, once again. This.. is..a..lie.
"It's not a lie!" said Bailee as a memory of Voldemort rising from the cauldron, Cedric being killed, the Cruciatus curse. "I saw him..I fought him!"
"Detention! Ms. Potter"
"So according to you Cedric doggroy dropped dead of his own accord" shouted Bailee, tears slightly coming to her eyes. Oh no...the feeling of guilt was returning.
"Cedric Diggory's death was a tragic accident."
"It was Murder... Voldemort Killed him!" said Bailee. A tear slipped from her eye.
"Enough!" Umbridge shouted.
More tears were coming. Bailee tried to hide them.
"Fine." Bailee said in a determined voice but it cracked at the last second. Everyone was staring at her. She grabbed her books and rushed out of the classroom not looking back. She raced along the corridor. She hadn't realized that her arm was bleeding through the bandages.
She hurried to the bathroom. She looked at her arm and saw that blood had soaked her white undershirt. She carefully unwrapped the bandage through the tears and saw sticky blood covering her arm. The gashes, still not fully healed, were now opening again. She felt sick. She tried to remain calm. She took a few breaths and washed her arm under the water from the sink. Then repeated this about a dozen times.
The blood kept coming back. I'm losing too much blood, she thought. I have to get to Madam Pomfrey. She tried to gather her books in one arm. She took two more deep breaths and walked out of the bathroom. She hurried quickly down the hall pausing every second to catch her breath. She rounded the corner. Crap. She stopped, her class was piling their way out of Professor Umbridge's classroom. Bailee did not want them to all know what was happening to her. She started to panic. She felt very lightheaded now. No! She must stay focused. She felt dizzy. She turned back around the corner before anyone could see her and quickly walked down a different corridor. People were coming out of their classes now, she had to hurry. Blood was dripping on the floor. Crapppppppp. She turned another corner. Her eyes kept on unfocusing. She heard a few gasps as people started to notice her arm covered in blood. She turned another corner. Thank goodness, the infirmary was right down the hall. Oh gosh... the world was spinning dramatically. Almost there... She finally got to the door of the infirmary. She opened it and hurried inside. she felt herself tilting sideways. She hit her head hard on the smooth ground. Her shoulder also collided with the ground. This actually sucks, she kept thinking. Blood was pooling around her quickly. She felt it on her cheek, hot and sticky. She felt herself being lifted up into a standing position and being hustled over to a hospital bed. She sat down on the bed as madam Pomfrey attempted to clean the wound and bandage it. Every so often Bailee would fall over on the bed or black out for a second.
"I've called Snape, he made the potion that will heal those nasty cuts."
"That's good" said Bailee lightly as if she was out of breath.
The front doors banged open. Snape barged in followed by Professor Mcgonagall. Everything seemed strangely out of proportion to Bailee. The ceiling was still spinning. She was laying down on the bed now. Her blood still soaked her bandages. It was now also soaking the bed sheets. Looking over at the bed sheets Baileei worried about the bed sheets. Hahaha. She felt like throwing up.
"I've got it here" said Snape pulling a vial out of a bag. A clear liquid with blue specks in it. Bailee still felt like throwing up. She covered her mouth quickly and jumped out of bed, ignoring the pain in her arm. She ran to the other side of the infirmary and Into the small bathroom. At the last second she leaned over the sink and vomited. Her breathing became quick and shallow. She threw up again... and again but nothing came the third time just her stomach wrenching forward and her throat contacting. She clutched the side of the sink very tightly. Her throat hurt very badly. At this point everything kinda hurt. Even her scar was throbbing. Blech... she tasted the bile in her mouth. She was still breathing very heavily. She turned on the sink to wash it away. Then she went under the tap to drink some water and wash out her mouth. Professor Mcgonagall stepped into the bathroom. Bailee was still leaning over the sink. She turned around to look at Professor McGonagall. She nodded her head and followed her out of the bathroom. She walked back over to her bed and sat down. She coughed. Madam Pomfrey unwrapped the bandage on her arm again. Blood was still gushing out of the cuts. Bailee was about to pass out. She felt weak and very lightheaded. Snape opened the bottle and started to drop the liquid onto Bailee's arm. It stung a little bit but it was nothing compared to the injury's it was healing. As the liquid dripped into the cuts they began to slightly close. Very slowly some of the blood vanished. The cuts were almost closed now. The smaller ones had closed leaving white scars where they had been. Scars were alright with Bailee, as long as it was getting healed, there were a few minor cuts left but Snape just said they would heal with time. Bailee thought back to Umbridge's class... It really was her fault that Cedric died. Bailee stood up. "Thank you." She said to professor Snape and Madam Pomfrey. She started to walk out. "Ms. Potter I must insist you rest." Said Madam Pomfrey.
"I'm ok now." Bailee said automatically with a smile and continued to walk out. Once she reached the hall she turned to head back up to the Gryffindor common room. She could have saved Cedric. If only she had moved faster she could have gotten to the cup and taken them both back. Voldemort wouldn't have risen and Cedric would be alive.
Just then Bailee remembered she had detention with Umbridge that night. She wondered what Umbridge was going to have her do. She reached the common rooms. "Acid pops." She said, The portrait swung open. She stepped inside. She was wondering if Hermione and Ron would be here. She went over and sat down on the long couch facing the fireplace. A small fire was flickering. Bailee figured she should start her homework. She pulled out her books, parchment, ink, and a quill. She had astronomy homework and magical ruins. She spread all her books out and began her astrology chart. She liked astronomy. She was quite familiar with the stars and planets. Almost every night she used the galaxy charm which gives a very accurate pattern of the current galaxies and stars. After a couple hours she finally finished her homework. It had started raining and water droplets were hitting the window. She wondered where Hedwig was. She hoped he was in the owelry. She checked the time. Crap.
