The girl sat with her chin cupped in her palms, her eyes watching the raindrops roll down the living room window. It always rained there. Perhaps it was the sky was reflecting how she felt. The world around her blurred as her eyes focused on a singular raindrop. Every time she tried to snap out of her disassociation, she failed.

"(Y/n), darling, your cookies are ready!" The voice of one of her godmothers brought her back into reality. Right. She was still there. Not at home and curled up with her mother. Her mother. She would be reading to her right now. But she was not home. And her mother was not reading to her.

"Coming," she spoke quietly. She uncrossed her legs and moved them off the nook. Her legs dangled as she slid forward and onto the floor. She adjusted her pajama pants before shuffling to the kitchen. She spots her godmother grabbing three small plates from the cupboard. Her godmother was a pretty woman. Her dark brown hair was tied up into a bun, her brown skin complimented her caramel eyes, and she had a very warm aura to her.

"Hi, darling," the woman greeted kindly upon sensing her goddaughter's presence. (Y/n) smiled in reply, moving to the fridge to get milk for her godmothers. "How many?" she asks, allowing the girl to take the first amount.

"...four."

"Four?" the woman repeats, a playful tone in her voice. "You'll be sick from that!"

"That's a sacrifice I'm willing to make." The woman laughs in reply, serving the cookies nonetheless.

"Bring this to Val, won't you?" she asks, giving the girl a tray with a glass of milk, a few cookies, and napkins. She nods, taking the tray by its handles before exiting the kitchen. She heads up the stairs. She took extra caution when it came to the glass of milk. She walked down the rather dark hallway, for no lights were on upstairs, besides the light peeking out from under one door.

The girl stopped outside it. She struggles in finding a way to knock before giving up. "Miss Valorie?" she asks quietly.

"Just a minute, dove!" a muffled voice answers. The sewing machine that was previously going drew to a stop. She hears a knock and a curse before the door opened a minute later. "Hello, (Y/n)," she greets. Her red hair, previously braided, was now very messy. She smiled down at the tray before accepting it and moving back into her sewing room. "Want to see what I'm working on?" she asks. (Y/n) hesitated. Valorie looked over her shoulder, a smile still staying on her face. "'Stasia can wait," she assures.

"All right," (Y/n) agreed, stepping inside. Upon the left wall was a very nice wardrobe. The doors had been removed and two extras in the same fashion were on either side. Two of which were clothing racks, already full of clothes. The middle was used for Valorie's ribbon, most of which were rods that were laid above one another. The bottom of all three wardrobes was full of threads, needles, cushions, and patterns that Valorie would actually reuse.

The wall parallel to the door was almost entirely windows with columns in between them. On the columns, there were designs that were messily pinned in place. One column, in particular, was saved for pictures: most of which were of (Y/n), the godmothers, and her parents. Arranged in the collage were pictures of landscapes, some of which came from the very land they lived on.

In the right centre of the room was a little set-up Valorie had made for those who could actually try on her designs. There were three body mirrors with fairy lights tracing around the frame of each mirror. In front of the mirrors was a little platform on which someone could stand.

After setting the tray down, Valorie moved over to the wardrobes. She proceeded to pull out one of the racks of clothes. It extended out from the wardrobe without needed to actually be removed. "Ta-da!" Valorie said excitedly. (Y/n) blinks, a pleasant smile staying on her face, for she didn't know how to reply. "...right! I've started on your back-to-school wardrobe."
