Katie was now dragging (Y/n) over to their table, for she tried backing out again. Her heels were digging into the floor before she willing stumbled along with the hurried Katie at the thought of ruining her shoes. The two girls wore pleasant smiles, the twins were nothing short of amused, and the fifth waved his hand.

"Everyone, this is (Y/n). (Y/n), this is everyone," Katie introduced. (Y/n) side-eyed Katie. "Oh, right," she mumbled. "That's Alicia—" a brown mixed girl whose hair was braided, waved her fingers "—Angelina—" a tall, black girl with her hair held out of her face with a headband raised her hand in greeting "—Fred and George, don't know which is which—" the ginger twins grinned in reply "—and Lee." A black boy with short twists in his hair nodded. (Y/n) nodded, looking anywhere other than the group as she rocked back and forth on her heels. After a moment of awkward silence, the group returned to their previous activities.

"Have you had Madam Hooch's class yet?" Katie asked, digging through her bag for her potions textbook, for her class was given homework due to the amount of messed up potions.

"What does she teach?" (Y/n) asks. She had no homework and was quite lost on what to do. No harm in reviewing her potion's textbook now, she supposed.

"Flying Lessons." (Y/n) tenses, looking at Katie.

"Flying?" she cried. "We have to fly?"

"Yes. On broomsticks, of course," Katie answers. "Anyways, first lesson and we're already learning how to hover our brooms, right? Well, a Slytherin in that class was hit in the face with his broom. It was hilarious! Madam Hooch didn't think so, though, because I was immediately scolded for laughing." (Y/n) smiled warily, nodding her head along to Katie's story. She had just started reading through the introduction chapter when Katie spoke up again. "Pst, (Y/n). I have a question."

"I'm listening."

"What's a bezoar?" Katie asked. (Y/n) slowly turned her head in Katie's direction.

"Katie, your textbook is right in front of you."

"I know," Katie said. "I just don't know where to look." She snapped her textbook shut. (Y/n) grins, shaking her head.

"In the back of textbooks, there's something called a glossary," (Y/n) said, setting her textbook on the table before flipping through it to the back. "Here, you can find various bolded words."

"I know that."

"Brilliant," (Y/n) applauds, flipping to the 'b' section and hoping it would appear. She soon concluded that this glossary had a description of the contents needed for bezoar. "Tell me, Katie, what is a bezoar?" Katie grumbled to herself, leaning over to read it.

"'A solid mass of indigestible that accumulates in your digestive tract,'" Katie read and grimaced. "Yuck." She quickly wrote down the answer, occasionally looking back at (Y/n)'s textbook. "Hey, did you ever turn your match into a needle?" she asked, quickly growing bored with her homework.

"Yes," (Y/n) answered. "Professor McGonagall complimented me for successfully doing it first."

"Brilliant. You can help me," Katie said.

"I don't know how you can expect me to be of any help," (Y/n) replies. "All it is is calling out a spell and a few hand motions, or something like that." She pauses. "You have not had Flitwick's class, right..." she murmured. "We are learning a levitating spell," she informed. "Wingardium Leviosa!" she called, swishing and flicking her wand at her textbook. She turned to Katie. "See? Easy stuff. You've really got to put emphasis on the 'o' if you want to work. At least, that's what worked for me—"

"(Y/n)," Katie said nervously, her eyes following the textbook that was heading for the ceiling.

"—and you've also got to be firm with what you're saying, otherwise no spell will work—"
