Chapter one

Omniscient POV:

"You good?" Kailani's cousin Meghan asked and Kailani slightly nodded while rubbing her stomach. "Yeah I just feel a little sick"

"Probably from eating this nasty ass school food" Meghan laughed while Kailani nodded and opened her locker. "Did you hear about Kentrell?" Meghan asked her cousin while Kailani pretended not to know what she was talking about. "He's moved to California now after that one song he made" Meghan explained and Kailani slightly nodded.

"What does that have to do with me?" She asked grabbing her history book before closing her locker. "Well I thought y'all had something going on" Meghan said clearly confused. "It was just a fling" Kailani shrugged as they started walking to their next class.

"Well I thought y'all was cute, do you have his number?" Meghan asked Kailani. "Yeah but we have each other blocked" Kailani said remembering that her and Kentrell didn't end things on a good note before he left.

"Mmcht just unblock him" Meghan said and at this point Kailani was clearly growing annoyed. "Can we just stop talking about it Meghan? It doesn't matter! He's gone and I'm here" Kailani said before walking into her class and sitting at her desk.

"Are you ok?" A boy Marcus asked Kailani while she ignored him. She's thought about Kentrell ever since the last time they had sex. They had a huge argument the last time they slept together. Their 'relationship' was supposed to be no feelings attached but they both started to like each other even if Kentrell didn't want to admit it.

Now Kailani is stuck at this high school she barely likes and Kentrell is living a life of luxury without her.

Kailani rolled her eyes at her own thoughts and the fact that her stomach still felt bad. A few minutes into class Kailani had asked her teacher if she could go to the bathroom and he nodded. Kailani rushed into a stall before throwing up.

Kailani had never felt this sick before in her life. It was so bad that she ended up walking out of school and going home early. She walked to her apartment building before walking up the steps and unlocking the door to see her mom passed out on the couch. She had a bottle of liquor laying on her stomach causing Kailani to sigh in disappointment and shake her head while closing the front door.

Kailani lived in a two bed room apartment in the projects of Baton Rouge. Her mom was an alcoholic while her dad was in jail. Kailani had a rough childhood with her mom always bringing different men in their house. Her mom would sleep with different men to get money to help pay the bills. Kailani ended up getting a job as soon as she turned fifteen because her mother would refuse to share any of the money she made once Kailani turned fourteen.

Kailani graded her moms car keys off the counter before leaving the house again to go to the store. At the store Kailani was still feeling sick so she picked up some medicine and a few pregnancy test.

Kailani's phone started to ring and it was a FaceTime call from her cousin Meghan. "Hello?"

"Where'd you go?" Meghan asked with a worried tone. "I went home and now I'm at the store getting some stuff for my stomach" Kailani said and Meghan slightly nodded. "How long have you been feeling like this?"

"About a week" Kailani answered honestly. "After you take the medicine if you still feel that way I'll take you to the doctor"

"Ok, I'll call you back when I get home" Kailani told Meghan and she nodded before hanging up the phone.

Kailani was scared. What if she was pregnant? She had only been with one person the whole month of September and that was Kentrell. Now he's gone to go live his best life while she might be carrying his seed.

Kailani ended up paying for everything and heading home. When she walked in the house her mom was sitting on the couch smoking a cigarette and Kailani closed the front door. Trying to hurry to the bathroom Kailani sat her mother's car keys on the kitchen table. "Kay" her mother called and she turned to face her mom. "Yes?"

"Come here" her mom said and Kailani walked over to her mother and stood in front of her. Kailani's mother snatched the bag out of Kailani's hand causing Kailani to slightly jump as her mom went through the bag and pulled out one of the pregnancy test.

Kailani's mom stared at the test then looked up at Kailani. "Go take it" she said pushing the box on Kailani and she nodded before rushing to the bathroom.

As Kailani waited for the results to come in she paced around the small bathroom which her and her mother shared.

Kailani saw the results appear and her eyes started to water. The test said 'pregnant.'

So many thoughts were rushing in Kailani's mind before her mother opened the door and looked down at the test then over at Kailani crying. Her mother pulled her into a hug and Kailani slightly pulled away confused before her mother smacked her in the face.

"You're not gonna be a little slut in my house" her mother said and at this point Kailani's whole body was shaking. "Pack your shit and leave"

"B-but I have no where to g-"

"Then you'll live on the streets" her mother said cutting her off while Kailani grabbed the test and ran out the bathroom. Kailani packed her clothes before walking out the house. It hurt her that her mother didn't care if her own daughter had to live on the streets....Kailani was all her mom had.

Kailani called her cousin Meghan and she picked her up. Kailani's aunt Trisha let her stay with them in their nice four bedroom house. Kailani's aunt was always the better sister out of the three. Kailani's mom was the youngest and didn't listen to shit. Kailani's other aunt Lala had a drug addiction and died a year ago. Kailani's other aunt Trisha was a very successful business lady and was the oldest out of the three.

"You can stay in here" Meghan said and Kailani nodded putting her bags on the bed. "You have your own bathroom right there" Meghan smiled and Kailani nodded.

"My mom is gonna take you to the doctor tomorrow" Meghan went on while Kailani looked around the room. "Are you gonna keep it?"

"Keep what?"

"The baby" Meghan said in a duh tone and Kailani slightly nodded. "Yes but I won't be here long....I'll get another job soon and get my own place" Kailani said not wanting to be a burden to her cousin or her aunt. Kailani was gonna have to fin for herself from now on.

That same night Kailani's finger hovered over Kentrell's contact name. She wanted to call him so bad but she was blocked and even if she wasn't, why would her care? He was living a new life now without her. A baby would just cause him more problems.
