Chapter six

|LA California - Kailani's Apartment|
|Tuesday Morning - 7:30am|

Kentrell's POV:

I knocked on Kailani's apartment t door and she answered it with Desire in her hands. "Hi?" She said letting me in. "Wassup D" I said grabbing Desire from her. "Hi" she said smiling. "Desire I'm packing your lunch right now" Kailani said rushing around.

"You want me to take her to school?" I asked and Kailani looked up mean mugging me. "What? You gave me a choice, either be here for y'all or forgrt about everything"

"You don't have to be here for us you gotta be there for her" Kailani said putting to Desire. "Ok that's why Ima take her to school" I said laughing to myself because Kailani wasn't making no sense. "Fine Kentrell do whatever you want, but you have to pick her up then drop her off with TJ because I have to work today and he said he would watch her"

"I mean her father can watch her" I said putting Desire down. "Her father is busy" Kailani said putting a juice box in Desire's lunch. "I'm actually not, Ima just head to the studio later with Ben" I explained and Kailani sighed. "Fine, I'll pick her up at like eleven tonight"

"She could just spend the night" I suggested and Kailani mean mugged me again. "Too far?" I asked and she nodded her head. "Ight well what time does she have to be at school?"

"She has to be there by eight fifteen and pick her up by two fifteen" Kailani said handing me Desire's lunch box and I nodded.

"Ok I'll see you later, come on D" I said and Desire followed behind me. "Love you mommy" she said waving to Kailani and Kailani waved back. "I love you too"

We walked out the front door and I heard Kailani lock it while I carried Desire down the apartment stairs.

I put Kailani in the back seat of my car before driving her to school. Once I dropped her off I headed to the studio with Ben. 

"I thought you was coming earlier" Ben said  and I saw KD sitting on the couch in the studio. "I had to take Desire to school"

"Damn so that's really your kid?" KD asked and I nodded. "How you and Kailani even meet?" Ben asked and I explained that I met her while in high school. "She was a friend of at friend"

|Flashback - Four years ago|

Meghan pulled Kentrell's arm and he sucked his teeth. "Yo where is we going?"

"I want you to meet my cousin, shes super cute!" Meghan explained and Kentrell rolled his eyes. Last time Meghan showed him someone 'cute' it didn't end well.

"If she look like you I don't want her" Kentrell teased while Meghan rolled her eyes. "KAILANI" Meghan practically yelled down the hall and Kailani turned around smiling and waved at her cousin.

"Kentrell this is my cousin Kailani. Kay this is Kentrell, he's a friend I guess" Meghan said and Kentrell sucked his teeth.  "Nice to meet you" Kailani said holding out her hand and Kentrell shook it. Kentrell obviously thought Kailani was cute and Kailani felt the same way about Kentrell.

"You can let go of my hand now" Kailani shyly laughed and Kentrell let go of her. "My fault....don't I have a class with you?"

"Yeah, Government, even though you never come" Kailani said and Kentrell smiled at her. "Well I know we got that class next come on" Kentrell said leading the way for Kailani to follow him so she did and Meghan smiled to herself. "I knew he would like her" she said under her breath before walking to her next class.

|Flashback over|

"It don't even matter now" Kentrell said while Ben and KD nodded. "She act like she don't like you" KD said while I sat down. "She don't" I said honestly. "You must've did some fucked up shit then" Ben said and I waved him off. "It don't even matter" I said trying to end the conversation.

A couple hours later I picked up Desire and took her to my house. "You hungry?" I asked Desire and she nodded sitting on the couch. "Ight-"

I got cut off by a knock on the front door an I opened it seeing Jania. "Nene why  are you back?" I asked and she invited herself inside. "I just want to talk" she said before looking at Desire. "Who's this?" She asked while Desire watched tv.

"That's Desire...she's a friends daughter"

"Oh...hi Desire" Jania said and Desire waved. "Nene what we gotta talk about?"

"I just wanted to make sure you good after everything" she said and I nodded. "Nene I'm cool we broke up and I'm focusing on myself and career" I said and she nodded. "Cool" she mumbled standing up. "I'll just leave you alone then" she said before walking out the house and I sucked my teeth before locking the front door.

Jania and I ain't end things on a bad note but she wanted kids and I wasn't ready to give her that. So I told her she should be with someone who can give her a kid. Which is part of the reason why I ain't tell her that Desire is my daughter. She would be pissed off with me and before Jania and I started dating we had developed a really good friendship and I ain't wanna ruin that.

|Hours later - 11:30pm|

Kailani POV:

I knocked on Kentrell's door and he answered it. "Hey" he said and I gave him a weak smile as he let me inside.

"Where's D?"

"Upstairs in my room" he said and I nodded before Kentrell showed me to his room. I picked up Desire and he handed me her lunch box and tablet.

"How was work?"

"Tiring, but I need the money because I'm tired of staying in that small ass apartment" I sighed. "Come stay with me then, just until you get like a town house or something" Kentrell suggested.

"I don't really think that's a good idea" I said and Kentrell lowkey looked disappointed. "Thanks for watching Desire though, was she good?" I asked and he nodded. "Yeah, she can come back any time, I can take her to school tomorrow if you want"

"I don't work tomorrow so I can do it" I said and he slightly nodded.

"I work a lot on weekends though so she can come back Friday"

"Ight bet" Kentrell said before walking me to the front door. "Y'all be safe, I'll call you tomorrow" he said and I nodded walking out the door before Kentrell closed it and I drove me and Desire home.
