"No!" I thought to myself

I turned on my phone and looked at the date. March 19. No

It. It was my birthday. Everyone is happy on their birthday

'I'm older'

'I'm getting presents'

All these things that were always awesome. Until

Well. You know. Grace. We were twins like you don't know already. These are one of the days that hits harder. On my parents. Especially since Grace died a little after our birthday.

I hurried up and got up from bed. I made my dad his coffee and hand it to him

"Hi dad" I say

"Hello Sketch" he says sternly

"I heard it was going to be a nice day today. Clear sky" I say trying to have a conversation

He just nodded

"Dad" I say. He looked at me

"It's my birthday" I say

He looks at his coffee as he takes a sip

"It's also your sister's" he says

"Of course I know that dad. But Grace isn't here anymore and it's me and Ethan. You still have other children to take care of. You could talk to me with a smile one day. Or go to the batting cages with Ethan on a Saturday." I say

He doesn't say anything

"Have a good day at school" he only says. I didn't know what to do so I head to the shower

After I shower I let my hair dry naturally. I decided since it was going to be a nice day I would wear a dress.

I wore a grey skater dress with pink flowers all around and my messed up converse. I put on my jean jacket that has a grey hoodie and my cube shaped glasses. I look at myself in the mirror and sigh.

"Happy Birthday Grace" I say softly to the picture of her and I that's placed next to my mirror

I was finally at school and at my locker when

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY" I heard jr. Yell from in back of me which made me shake

"Sorry did I scare you" he laughs

"Yes" I say

"Happy birthday" he whispers

"Thank you" I say with a small smile "how'd you remember" I say

"How would I forget my favorite cousins birthday" he said hugging me "don't tell Ethan I said you were my favorite cousin" he says and I laugh

"Hold on" he says grabbing something from his back pack

I was confused

"Ta da" he said giving me a wrapped box

"What's this?" I ask shaking it close to ear finding out what it is

"It's for you. Open it" he said

"Oh you shouldn't have, cousin" I say already opening it

My eyes were wide when I saw what it was.

"YOU SHOULDNT HAVE" I say excitedly

"I new you were going to like it. I never saw you with a shirt with Beyoncé or Drake on it" he said
