Chapter 15
(Sakura's POV)
Home, sweet hell.
When I finally made it home, I didn't expect John to be there at all. Usually he is out with his friends or getting wasted in someone else's house.
He sat on the couch in the living room and I almost didn't notice the thing of Tequila clasped in his right hand. Instead of his usual violent tantrums, he was simply drinking while watching whatever sports were playing on the TV.
Cautiously setting my backpack onto the ground, I sat on the other side of the sofa, just to make sure he was ok. The silence was tense and filled with plenty of unease. His teeth were clenched and there was even dark circles under his eyes. Without warning, he began to talk,
"Listen here Freak, just because I'm talking to you doesn't mean I like you."
His eyes were still glued to the screen but I knew he saw my nod of agreement because his posture slowly relaxed.
"My girlfriend broke up with me today. And you know why? She said that it was because of my sorry excuse of a sister and that I should get rid of you."
To be honest, I didn't even know John had a girlfriend because I know I've never met her. I'm surprised he isn't trying to kill me with a be noddles for ruining his relationship.
"That's when I realized how ugly people are. I already knew she was a cheating slut but I kept her around anyway for the good lay. I don't even know what I'm supposed to feel. Your the reason she broke up with me but I'm not pissed."
He looked into my eyes with confusion and hesitance before whispering,
"Why do I hate you anyway?"
Turning back towards the tv, he went back to ignoring my presence while I tried to figure out what just happened. With a shake of my head, I went up to my room and slammed the door behind me. A small grin crawling onto my face,
Will John change?
"In your dreams Freak."
