Chapter23
(Sakura's POV)
My curiosity grew as I caught a glance at an old, black, beat up, leather book. I quickly looked up and made sure the door was closed before quenching my curiosity and reaching under the bed, taking hold of it. The book was rather small and seemed to be years old, judging from the state of it. The spine of it seemed beaten down and I was reluctant to flip it open.
After waiting a couple of minutes to see if anyone would check on me, I decided the coast was clear and hesitantly flipped it open.
The first thing that caught my eyes was the rough handwriting, it was rushed and rather sloppy. Making most of the words unintelligible and hard to read. Heaving my body up with my arms, I sat on the bed and read the first entry.
"He said you were going to die today mom. He's never wrong. I don't care what it takes to keep you safe, I'll take another whipping if I have too. They are coming mom, to kill us all, but for some reason they want to kill you first. I'm scared but you are getting better and I'm not going to let anyone hurt my family."
My eyes widened at the seriousness of the entry and I hastily turned the page, eager to make sense of the mysterious puzzle. This time the writing was angry and had wet stains covering the entire page.
"They knocked down the door, my body was too cut up from the previous whippings and they crowded around you. Why didn't I see it! The flash of silver behind your back?! Your eyes were foggy and your nose was red from snorting drugs. Two men restrained my arms and I watched helplessly as that crazed smirk crossed your face. The knife plumed into your stomach twice before you looked right into my eyes and slit your throat.
I screamed in horror as you collapsed onto the ground. I was roughly thrown into the puddle of your blood as they ran out. I went numb and cold staring at your lifeless eyes. My arms scooped you up and cradled you to my chest. I killed you. I should have seen this coming. Damn him for always being right. Good night mom."
A gasp erupted from my shocked lips. The story was horrifying and seemed to be a journal of some sort. Realization flooded back to me when I heard the sound of footsteps approaching the door. I quickly stashed the book under my shirt, throwing a pretend tired grin at Itachi when he walked in.
His eyes narrowed onto mine in suspicion before cautiously asking if my leg was ok and allowing me to return home. The black book stayed tucked under my arm as I limped home, anticipating the next entry.

My anger intensified after trying to have a decent conversation with my father. Once again, he needed a good ass kicking for entering another casino and showing up at home drunk.
Slamming my bedroom door behind me, I anxiously reached under my bed, searching for the book. And when all I felt was roughness of the carpet, all hell broke loose.
