Chapter 7
(Sakura's POV)
"It's rude to stare."
Closing my mouth, I lowered my head, fighting a raging blush. Before mumbling,
"Sor-ry."
He held out a hand with a blank expression, not replying. Slowly lifting up my mulch covered palm, our hands clasped together and he yanked me up with a soft jerk. But of course, I tripped over my own feet and crashed into his muscled chest. Like an idiot.
Stuttering an apology, I jolted out of his arms and a blush covered me from head to toe. I could practically feel the amusement, radiating from his warm, eyes. With a sigh, I turned around and decided to start walking back before I made a complete fool of myself. But he grabbed me by the crook of my elbow,
"Do you hate my presence, that much?"
Speechless, I whipped my head around and looked him in the eyes. Noticing a small hint of hurt, in their depth.
"What do you mean?"
Without responding, he let go of my arm and put some distance in between us.
"Never mind, just forget what I said."
Not letting him run away, I hugged him from behind.
"I could never hate you Naruto-kun. Your late but it's better than not showing up at all."
Slowly turning in my arms, he engulfed me in his friendly warmth and loudly exhaled. Placing a wet kiss on the top of my head, he pulled back and smiled. Wrapping a strand of hair that was in my face, behind my right ear. Sparking another blush of embarrassment.
"I don't like this Sakura-chan, I want are friendship back."
Ignoring the pain and guilt in my stomach, I stupidly succumbed, to my avid desire for our friendship back. Knowing that this would do more harm then good.
After awhile of sitting there, lost in our own thoughts. We eventually made our way back to the swing set. But every time Naruto pushed me, it would make the voices in my head scream louder. All of them, scolding me for giving into my wants and doing something that I know, will harm him in the long run.
Push.
"Stupid!"
Push.
"Idiot!"
Push.
"Selfish."
Push.
"GREEDY!"
Jump.
The wind, thrashed at my soft pink hair, and Naruto's chuckle, flowed through the air. With one last hug goodbye, we started to walk our separate ways. But right before I could walk into my house, a pained shout rang in my ear drums. My blood froze as I turned back around and started to run towards the tortured sound. My sneakers slapped against the concrete as the sky turned a shade darker. When I reached the corner of the sidewalk, a shriek of terror rose in my throat.
"Sasuke?..."
