Chapter 18(Sakura's POV)
I've never been in detention.
I'm not scared of it or anything but I just never managed to get into that much trouble. Most of my school time focused on trying to become invisible to teachers and students. Detention was basically an hour after school doing nothing but being silent and wasting time.
The classroom was nearly empty except Itachi and the teacher. It didn't really surprise me when I saw Itachi here because he was known for being the bad boy who broke all of the rules. But after sharing a kiss with his younger brother, I couldn't help but feel awkward as a blush covered my entire face.
Avoiding eye contact, I pretended not to see him look over at me and I focused on the teacher's nod of acknowledgment. Closing his newspaper and taking his feet off the desk, the teacher looked over at us with a grunt before walking out. It was obvious that he would be coming back but I was a little surprised at the amount of confidence he had to insure that we wouldn't leave while he wasn't here.
"Stay away from him."
I whipped my head over to Itachi's direction and my eyes widened in surprise. His hands were behind his head while his feet rested crossed on top of his desk. "Why should I?..." Normally I would have rather dropped dead then say such a bold statement but something inside my stomach wasn't ok with where this conversation was headed.
"He's dangerous and you don't know some of the things he's done," he whispered distantly. Closing my eyes in thought, I pictured Sasuke. The kiss was still fresh in my memory and I couldn't help but feel safe when I'm around him. I feel like if I listen to a bunch of rumors then I'm no better then my bullies. But then again, Itachi is his brother...
"Sasuke was never the most outgoing kid but when he was around our mother, he was different. He was lighter, played more, smiled and then one day it all changed. Sasuke never knew about our mom's addiction. I would come home from school and see her stoned in the living room around a bunch of drunk men. Our dad likes to gamble and frankly, would choose his life over ours in a heartbeat.
Once Sasuke found out about her addiction, he vowed that she would get better. Every week he would manage to get her to stay clean for a couple of days just to be crushed when she would decide to get high again. One day I got home and there he was, covered in her blood. The look in his eyes still scare me to this day and no one except him, knows what happened. Dads debt began to rise and he took off, leaving us to deal with the consequences of his actions.
Men would come in and destroy the house and If we didn't pay fast enough, they jumped us. Sasuke snapped one day and all I remember is seeing him covered in blood, once again. He isn't the same guy he use to be and even though I'm his brother, I know not to get into his way. He barely tolerated me and I'm not particularly fond of watching females get hurt."
Before I could reply the teacher walked back in, slamming the door behind him obnoxiously. Processing what Itachi had told me was beyond something the average human was capable of accomplishing. Laying my head on the cold wood of the desk, I sighed in frustration.
I don't know what to do.
