Chapter 14

I woke up to find Penny still overreacting whenever Zayn brought up the new pack.

I didn't think it was that big of a deal. I had a feeling she was overreacting.

I saw it was almost seven o'clock so I rode over to Alison's place. I panicked when I had to rush to make sure I was clean enough. I rushed out the door and hopped on my bike. I parked the bike in front of her house and I knocked on the door. "Harry?" she answered.

"Yea. I remembered the mini golf thing and I wanted to take you." I said nervously. I could never speak to someone like this. It was super awkward for me. While I was outside her door and how beautiful she looked. She was breath-taking.

"Oh. Come inside. I'm gonna get ready and then we can go." She smiled and I stepped inside. She led me to her room and I excused myself to the kitchen.

I needed a drink. I saw she had the water dispenser on the front of the door so I rummaged the cabinets for a glass and pushed it against the lever that released the water from its storage in the freezer. I sat, taking slow sips of water and admired her home. It was clean and home-y. I missed this feeling. Zayn's home was comforting but didn't feel like a home to me.

I walked around, seeing many family portraits and pictures of Alison when she was younger. I smiled at the picture of her in a soccer uniform holding a soccer ball, smiling at the camera. She seemed to be about ten years old.

My mum used to have pictures of me around the house. Not of me playing sports but of me and my band. I used to sing when I was younger. Our band White Eskimo played at weddings and small gigs in coffee shops. Pictures of me and my sister. My parents wedding. They were all scattered around the house. I remembered my favorite one which was of my mum and I after my band's first gig. She said she was proud of me and that I should improve myself. She said she would so anything that helped me improve my voice. I shed a small tear in memory of my mother. I haven't seen them in years.

"Ok! We can go!" Alison yelled. She found me holding the picture of her and giggled. "I was eleven. I loved soccer until I broke my arm. I stopped playing after because I was more interested in track." She took the picture frame from my hands and looked at it herself. I wrapped my arms around her waist, my head looking down at the photo as it rested on her shoulder. "This was my last game. I broke my arm after this picture was taken." She smiled and put it back. I kissed her cheek and grabbed her hand.

We walked to her car and I stopped her. "I'm taking you in a date so we're taking my bike." I said. She giggled at the thought of us riding the old bike as she stood on the back bars that stuck out from the axle of the wheel. I sat down and started to pedal.

It took a while before she helped me find the mini golf courses. We parked the bike and paid for ourselves. We grabbed our 'weapon' of choice and picked a gold ball from the assortment of rainbow spheres. We found the first hole and I let her go first.

"You should know that I was a master at this game back home." I whispered to her.

"Well around here, I'm unbeatable."

I laughed and she shot a hole in one. "Told you."

I centered the golf ball at the starting pad and aimed for the hole. I swung and the ball rolled over the hole, but didn't go in. "Ok! This ball is defective!" I yelled. She laughed and we moved on, considering I didn't make it in.

We kept playing, remind each other we were the best as I tried to let her win. She just lit up the room when she smiled. It made me feel like I was doing something right for once. At the end of the 18 holes, we sat down to eat some pizza.
