Chapter 32

"Vampires?" I asked.

I could hear Dakota laughing himself to death in the living room.

"Come in." I said to Niall. I shut the door behind him, worried. Vampires? What was he blabbing on about? Vampires aren't real. Werewolves were created by gods. Vampires are like the devil's fake worshippers. Fake as in they don't exist.

"Niall. What's going on?" I asked. Dakota came over, catching his breath.

He leaned on Niall's shoulder and he tensed. Leaning away as if he was afraid of himself.

"Liam. I can hear heartbeats from a big distance. I can feel the blood rushing through your veins. I can sense that you're worried for me right now. I ..... I almost did something to my brother."

He started to choke on his tears. He was truly scared of whatever was happening.

"Dakota. Come here." Dakota followed me to a separate room. I asked if he knew anything about it.

"Well. I guess they could be real. What other creature can do that?"

"I'm just nervous for him. If he is a vampire, isn't there some sort of transition stage?"

"I'll look it up."

I went back to Niall, him tensing under my touch. He followed me to the kitchen where Dakota had my dad's records of the past.

"Vampires." He stated, "Immortal creatures that feed on the blood of humans. Blah blah blah. History of the vampire." Dakota scanned through the text, looking for anything urgent.

"I'm pretty sure vampires didn't exist but, here we are. There is a transition stage. Niall, you have to drink human blood before midnight. Or you're dead."

"What?" he was shocked. He started to mutter to himself nervously. I calmed him as best as I could. He was still shaking.

"Can I do something, Dee?"

"No. Only human blood. The blood of any other creature could make him worse. And in this weak, transition stage, I don't even wanna know what would happen."

Niall started to back up from us. "I can't do this. I don't wanna die. And I don't wanna kill people."

"Niall. You're gonna have to. I don't think animals are in the question."

Having Dakota tell Niall the cold hard truth made him worse.

Niall ran out the door, faster than I could manage.

*Niall's POV*

I knew that I would have to drink blood. I didn't know that animals were out of question. I don't wanna kill people. I don't wanna be this way.

What the hell happened last night?

I made my way back home, stopping in front of an alleyway.

"Help!" I heard a voice. I turned to find a man, in his late 30's laying on the ground. His shirt was a light blue, with a growing red spot on his stomach.

Blood.

I walked over to him cautiously, hearing the now louder sound that came from my sneakers against the concrete.

Everything just seemed to be louder, clearer, more defined.

"Oh. Thank you. Please get me to a hospital."

I knelt down next to him, signaling for him to stay silent.

"Don't worry. I'm gonna make it all better."

I had no clue what I was doing. I wasn't even thinking. I leaned closer to the man, him trembling in fear.

"What's gonna happen?" He asked.

"Shh. Just don't scream." I assured.

Cautious of what I was doing, I leaned forward, my mouth facing the prominent veins in his neck.

I bit down, the man calming immediately.

My hunger grew as I drank, making it hard to stop. I felt out of breath yet I had all the air in the world. I grabbed the mans shoulder, pulling me closer.

I tried to stop with all I could but the blood tasted so good. The red liquid slid down my throat perfectly. It was heaven in real life.

Not before long, I had drained the man completely. To the very last drop. I looked at what I had done, seeing some of the blood spilled on my hands. I backed against the brick wall of the alley in fear of myself.

A flash burned through my eye, like a piece of glass. I saw it was a mirror, bending down to pick it up.

I saw myself in it. Bright red filled the only color in my eyes and veins protruded from below my eyelids. My skin was pale and my lips were stained. Blood covered my lips and teeth, seeing the sharper teeth sink back in my mouth.

I was now fully changed. I felt a power fill my arms and legs. I could hear the footsteps of two people.

Liam and Dakota. They stopped when they saw me in the alley, worried for me. They looked from the man I killed back to me, my hands still red.

"Ni-" Liam didn't even finish when I ran off like lightning, dashing home and staying inside.

*Harry's POV*

"We have to find this man now." I ordered.

"Look more flaws!" Penny cheered sarcastically, "How are we going to get across town when we have bikes and Zayn's really the only one who can drive?"

"Actually. I can't." Zayn admitted. We all snapped our heads at him. "I'm allowed to but I only have my permit. I'd need an adult who can drive."

"Zayn can't even drive. So Harry," If looks could kill I'd be dead in my afterlife, "How is this going to work?"

I contemplated the idea for a few seconds.

"Louis. Your motorcycle." Zayn commented, hoping one of us could ride.

"My dad's." He corrected, "I can't ride that thing."

"I can."

I headed to the front door, walking around the garage.

"Sine when do you ride a motorcycle?" Zayn asked.

"Since before I knew you guys. My parents would take me dirt-biking. Motorcycles are the same thing."

Louis came out the back door that went through the house.

"What do you suppose we do?" Louis asked.

"Find her. She can't be worked on if we're bringing her back."

"Alright."

"I'll be back with him soon." I said.

"You sure you don't want anyone with you?" Zayn asked.

"I'm fine." I put the keys in the ignition, starting up the engine.

I put on Louis' helmet and rode away.
