And I know in my heart…you’re not a constant star. I’d never seen them sing live before. Sure he’d hum and sing a bit here and there, but I’d never physically watched him sing, and my god, I was entranced. And yeah I’ve let you use me from the day that we first met, but I’m not done yet, falling for your fool’s gold. I knew he couldn’t see me as he sang, but he continued to look in my direction. The VIP viewing section was occupied by Liam and Louis’s girlfriends, as well as Gemma and Lottie. I couldn’t have cared about any of them if someone paid me. I was too focused on him. And I knew that you’d turn it on for everyone you met, but I don’t regret falling for your fool’s gold. Listening to the album, whether it be in the car or on my headphones, didn’t actually happen much. I mean, I’d sat with him and listened when he got his copy, but it didn’t phase me, really. This though…this was different. He was so passionate, so raw, that I almost forgot where I was. His voice was something else, it really was. The final two songs they sang were ones I’d heard many times, they were fast and the boys were clearly having as much fun as they wanted while singing. I didn’t even know why I was so affected by Fool’s Gold. Maybe it was the way he literally put everything he had into it. Maybe it was the lyrics, they certainly struck some sort of chord. Maybe it was the way he refused to look anywhere but up. At me, whether he could see me or not. I don’t know. It could have been all of that rolled up in one. I had no idea but for the rest of the concert, I was in an overwhelming daze. When Sophia asked me if I’d enjoyed it, I plastered on a smile and nodded enthusiastically. That was awesome, I said. I wasn’t sure if they’d believed me, but I didn’t care. We laughed and made our way, all getting into separate vehicles. I drove with an undercover guard and we arrived at the hotel long before the boys. By the time Harry got back, I had showered, ordered more room service and cozied up in bed. The second he walked in, he was smiling. He just looked proud. Clearly satisfied with his performance. When his head hit the pillow, I could tell how truly exhausted he was. The bags under his eyes were a dead giveaway, but he was still smiling. Still—seemingly—happy. I closed my laptop and turned over so we were both laying on our sides, facing each other. “So…what’d you think?” I didn’t even know the words to use to tell him how much I loved it.
“Harry…it was…” I trailed off. “I loved it. I loved every second of it.”
“Yeah?” His eyes shone like two beautiful stars. As green as they were, I saw entire universes in each one.
“Yes. I could watch you sing forever.” He scooted closer and pulled me down underneath his toned arm.
“I reckon that may have been the nicest thing you’ve ever said to me.”
“Yeah, yeah. Don’t let it get to that big head of yours.”
“My head isn’t very big.”
