This chapter is more than 9,700 words, my longest chapter yet, so I split it into two different parts. This part is about 6,100 words.

Chapter 7 Part 1 of 2: Mediation

"Kiryuuin-kun, your men are no longer needed to recover Subject 4-1-3. Instead, have them on standby for a final mission within the next year or two," Professor Ayanokouji said over the phone.

"Okay. May I ask why?"

"The White Room Agency has recently discovered his general location. He attends the same school as your daughter."

"!"

"In under a year, I will be sending many of my own employees to take care of him. That is all."

He hung up.

It is now June 1st, the beginning of the new month, meaning the class ranks have changed.

Kiyotaka was going to class a little earlier than usual, walking alongside Kiryuuin and Horikita. 35 minutes remained until his first class begins, but he has a reason for this.

He is planning to discuss study groups with his classmates.

'It sure is hot out today.'

"Um, excuse me!" A female voice called out, stopping him near one of the side entrances/exists of the school.

The very first thing Hornykouji noticed is that she's a beautiful girl with magnificent assets...

Shaking those thoughts off, she also has gorgeous dark blue eyes akin to that of the winter sky. They remind him of a simple fact he learned long ago.

'Dark blue, huh. I don't know if many people know that the sky is darker in winter than it is in summer. This is because the distance between the Earth and the sun is 152.1 million km around the summer solstice versus 147.1 million km around the winter solstice, making the sky about 3.3% darker in winter as less of the sun's energy is focused on the northern hemisphere where 6.4 billion people live.'

Yet another thing anime gets wrong when they show how dark blue the sky is in summer...

"Hm? Can I help you?"

The girl smiled beautifully, radiating an extremely kind aura, one that made Suzune gape at her because she can tell that there is no malicious intentions behind her smile.

Oh, and the girl has strawberry-pink hair. "I'm Ichinose Honami from Class A. You're Ayanokouji Kiyotaka from Class B, right?" She turned to her two companions. "Nice to meet you, too! I'm sorry for interrupting. Who might you be?"
