Chapter 22: Monkey Part 3 of 3 - The Father's Expectations of the Son
Elsewhere in mainland Japan, there is a supposedly abandoned hospital that also looks a lot like one of those super advanced high schools from anime.
The abandoned hospital is lush green because it has been completely covered by overgrown trees and shrubbery, at least on the outside, camouflaging it from the eyes of the public.
On the inside, though, it is anything but abandoned.
A well-dressed businessman strolls down the busy halls as several dozens of employees of the place head to their destinations for their next tasks, talking about.
The man, however, casually strolls about, maintaining a façade of seriousness while taking in the décor with mixed emotions.
While the windows to the outside are completely obscured by the overgrowth of nature, the inside is much different, so much so that one could tell it is cleaned regularly.
White walls.
White ceilings.
White floors.
White doors.
White.
White.
White.
Everything is white.
'How bland. It's too bad that such a pristine appearance disguises the activities of the Devil,' The man thought.
This man is Kiryuuin Tadamichi.
He is being held hostage by the organization to continue manufacturing their weapons and provide security.
Should he refuse, the consequences would be devastating.
His wife, Hanae.
His daughter, Fuuka.
Who knows what could happen to them.
After some time, he finally reached his destination, a corner of the building that is relatively isolated.
Taking out a pair of keys, unlocking a door, stepping in, and locking it behind himself, Tadamichi takes a moment to adjust to the darkness of the room, which is lit by only a single fluorescent light tube, giving off an eerie teal-blue color.
On both sides of the room are mirrors that only add to the unsettling place that one would never wish to find themselves in unless they're a psychopath. He knows this is an illusion, for those mirrors are double-sided.
Here, they are always watching.
An overhead projector flickers and turns on before it connects to an online meeting, the camera on the other end showing static before slowly fading away to reveal the caller.
Professor Ayanokouji is seen with his usual glare. "What is the meaning of this, Kiryuuin-kun? Do you know anything about this symbol we've been seeing?"
"No idea. Whatever it is, it's untraceable. We have a new enemy," He spoke in a serious tone, pretending to be on the same side as that man. "They have no name or face to them yet."
"Great! That is so reassuring. Well done... at discovering absolutely nothing!" Professor Ayanokouji taunts sarcastically.
Tadamichi's eyebrow twitches briefly in annoyance and sighs. "... Anyway, there is one thing we have discovered about them."
