Exam Day 3 of 4

Ayanokouji Kiyotaka POV

The second night's meeting went by similar to the previous ones with me trying to stay inconspicuous, so because things haven't changed much, I decided to not attend the third day's afternoon meeting, resulting in a -50 point penalty, something I have become aware of thanks to Ryuuen's antics when I received a text of his penalty we got on the first day.

However, due to my absence, someone forced me into my current position, that person being Tsukishiro, who claimed to want to have a little talk over dinner and that it is his treat, which I believe is a saying that means he will pay for whatever I wish to eat.

"It feels like it's been a while since we last talked! How have you been?" Tsukishiro grinned brightly.

Much to his dismay, I ignore him.

Currently, I'm seated next to a window in a rather fancy five star restaurant that overlooks the ship observatory, providing a rather breathtaking view of the dark sea, the starry sky on this fine night, and the moon that gives the water below a blueish-green reflection due to a passing aurora.

I use my right hand to slice into my dinner, a hamburger steak, and I bring it up to my mouth before taking the poor dead cow's life, albeit reincarnated, a second time. You were food. Nothing more.

I'm aware that the person in front of me is speaking, but right now, I'm unable to listen. Can I be blamed? I mean, there is a delicious meal in front of me (that's right, be jealous of my gravy dip for the steak), and beside me is a gorgeous view of but a small portion of the Milky Way galaxy.

However, those big balls of gas and their neighboring planet bodies and nebulas remind me of something that will always set me apart from my peers: the fact that I am one of the very few beings in the world with most of the knowledge accumulated throughout human history, and that I am aware of the general estimated scale of the universe.

Such a knowledge like seeing God...

Suddenly, I feel rather small.

"-was accused of associating with terrorists."

Tsukishiro's voice cuts in, interrupting my meaningless pondering.

Thank you for saving me from wondering how insignificant I really am in the grand scale of things.
