C H A P T E R  T H I R T Y  -  F O U R

hey, it's been a while, huh? i don't know when i'll post this, probably months after i even write it lol. uh, sorry for being gone so long, i won't bother with any excuses or my life story but i don't know how much of this story is left. i kinda left it right near the end but i don't want it to be too rushed or anything.
anyway, hopefully i don't leave this abruptly like i did before and at least tell you guys i'll be gone. that was kinda shitty, sorry

oh, and please don't send Mrs. O'Leary on me, sorry I've been MIA, I've been working on this for a while but didn't wanna just post some Author's Note after this long because I know I hate when that happens and then a chapter never comes up.

anyway, here's the next chapter...after a long break.

PERCY

The day mostly consisted of all of us walking through the park multiple times, grabbing snacks on more occasions than was probably necessary, and a long hot chocolate break. At some point, Leo ran off and came back with a bubble gun? Everywhere we went was filled with bubbles and quite possibly candy that fell from the bag when Hazel jumped to kick Leo after a bubble popped in her eye.

Nico was having fun throwing caramel popcorn at Will and Jake whenever they so much as looked at one another. The son of Hades would look away innocently as he shoved a Twizzler in his mouth. Every time.

We also somehow snuck all of these snacks into a movie theatre without getting caught. We also continued to buy a few slushies which probably would have fallen all over the theatre floor if Frank hadn't been quick enough and balanced the drinks.

Sometime after that movie — I hadn't seen one in a while so it was kind of refreshing — we all stumbled out of the theater, getting many odd looks from others from our loud conversation.

Nico was dragging me along behind him, talking with Hazel and glancing back at me every now and then. A small smile was on my face as they all laughed over some stupid joke.

"Okay, okay, hear me out. Dad jokes are where it's at right now," Leo tried to convince us.

"What the hell? No. They're obnoxious and stupid," Nico countered.

"That may be true, but then why do we laugh at them?"

"Because they're stupid."

"Because they're funny! "

"It just proves that your sense of humor is long gone and needs some major repairing."

"You're just a hater, Nico."

I sipped my water through a straw, finishing it off and causing a loud sound from the lack of water.

"Percy, I think that's finished?"

I glanced up at Hazel who looked relatively amused as I released the straw and threw the paper cup in the recycle bin that was conveniently there at the right time.

"Really? I didn't notice the lack of water in my mouth."

"Of course, you had to be sarcastic about it."
