I typed out vigorously, drawing away from Drea.

I already told you. I have spies everywhere.
Now, if you want your mother to get the surgery she needs right away, finish your job.
"Who are you texting?" Drea asked.
"Brian." I grumbled.
"Did he do this!?" Drea exclaimed.
"Shhhhh." I said looking around.
"He said he didn't do it."
"And you believe him?"
"Brian's the mayor's son. He's rich and powerful and all, but not this powerful."
"Leo I'm tired of all of this. Why can't we go to the police about him?"
"As if they'd believe us."
"They have to."
"What are we going to say? Hey there officer. So like the mayor's son, Brian, is blackmailing us and threatening our mother so I can make a girl fall in love with me then break her heart. Oh, by the way, I also signed a contract, but it's just that I want out now, so now he's blackmailing us and threatening our mother."
"Ohhhhh. This is hopeless."

I stared at the message and reread it. Then I started looking around me frantically.
"What?" Drea asked.
I showed her the text and then she started looking around frantically too.

Meet me outside now, by your car. We need to talk.
"I have to go outside Drea. I'll be right back."
"This is all your fault!" She exclaimed with tears streaming down her face.
I stared at my sister dumbstruck.
"If you hadn't taken Brian's money in the first place or signed his stupid contract, we wouldn't have been in this mess."
Her words hit me like a brick.
Suddenly, my anger shot up high.
"Well please remember that if it wasn't for that money, mom wouldn't have gotten the necessary medication she needed. I didn't hear you complaining then."
