Since the wedding, I've taken Lily's invitation to join her family. Me and the heretics get along well.
It was tea time in the house meaning it was time to feed, we all sat around as Lily poured us all blood.
"Thank you." I tell Lily as she passes me a cup.
"Oh, none for me Lily. I've already had my ration today." Malcolm says pushing his drink to Mary Louise.
"What a saint you are Malcolm." Nora says mockingly and I sigh.
"This is ludicrous." Nora voices her opinion but I can't disagree.
"Nora's right. How long are we to live on three sips a day? It's the prison world all over again." Mary speaks up.
"They're right Lily, this is torture and I'm starving." I tell her.
"Beau is not complaining." Lily says and I raise a brow.
"Beau's mute." Mary says and I chuckle.
" Zoe, you know you and I can't drink like everyone else, we're rippers." Lilly says and I sigh." It might feel like you are starving but I promise you you're not." She tells me and I nod clenching my jaw.
"And here we thought we could have a family meal in peace. Beau, care to join me for a game of backgammon, while the love birds bicker?" Malcolm asks. Beau and Malcolm leave.
"I'm headed to New York this afternoon to meet up with Lorenzo. I assume I have nothing to worry about." Lilly asks us.
"So, you're allowed to explore the world but we're stuck here, starving ourselves, pretending like we're not the strongest people on the planet?" Nora asks.
"Need I remind you how things used to be?" Lilly asks the girls.
"You mean when you loved us and allowed us to have actual fun?" Mary asks and I roll my eyes at her dramatics.
"Our appetite for murder drew in unwanted attention. Forced us to run for decades at a time and then got us imprisoned for 100 years. Our way of living did not work, Mary Louise." Lilly tells them.
"Now you want us to coexist. We know. We've heard your speech." Mary tells her.
"What about Oscar? He's been gone days, running your errands. I highly doubt he's off living in secret." Nora speaks up, we hear the door open and Valarie enters looking worse for wear.
"Valarie, are you okay?" I ask her right away.
"What happened?" Lilly asks her.
"Some horrible teenagers plowed me down in their automobile." She tells us.
"Oh, dear. Is their automobile okay?" Nora asks and I slap her arm as Mary laughs.
"The little monsters left me for dead. No apology. No call for help. I was road kill. And what did I do? I acted like roadkill. Because we're governed by a pacifist who'd rather see her children hurt than stand up for themselves." Valarie snaps hurt in her voice.
"Valarie, don't cry, okay? Your home now. You're with us." Nora says and I stand and wrap my arm over her shoulder as she leans her head on my shoulder. Lilly smiles softly at my actions.
"Yeah, who needs the rest of the world, right? We have each other." Mary speaks up.
"You resisted your urge to fight back. That means your learning. I'm proud of you Valarie." Lily says playing with her hair.
Valarie leaves the room.
When Lily leaves we pay the kids that ran Valarie over a visit. She bangs the boy's head off the hood making blood splatter all over the windshield.
"Missed a spot." She tells the pair. The girl walks into the three of us.
"Who are you?" The girl asked.
"Remember that large squirrel you ran over this morning? Turns out that was our friend, Valarie." Mary tells her and I smirk. The girl turns back to Valarie who waves.
"But you looked dead." The girl stutters.
"I get that a lot." Valarie says and the girl runs. Nora chants a spell and the car door opens knocking the girl down and I giggle.
Mary chants a spell dragging the girl over to us, they pick her up.
"You're worse than your friend. You thought about doing the right thing, and then you just left her there." Mary says as the girl is cut up and bloody. They turn to me, and smirk. My vampire face on show. I snarl at the girl, they let her go and she runs but I catch up and toss her. She hits the ground with a yelp. I striatal her and shove my fangs into her neck. The girls pick up a limb and start to feed off of her.
When we were done we hung them upside down after Nora took a picture with the girl.
From upstairs I hear Caroline. I slowly creep down the stairs, to hear Matt and know they are planning something.
"Does anyone else smell that?" I ask as I reach the rest of them, Caroline's eyes widen when she sees me.
"Zoe?" She asks shocked. She grabs me and speeds out of the house as a bomb goes off engulfing the home in flames.
I grab a tree branch and stab her in the stomach with it.
"You hurt my family!" I yell and speed off. I met up with the three girls and pulled them into a hug. We go to the ceremony where Matt and Caroline are, I stay back with the boys, I laugh as the girls set off the sprinklers and then light the whole place on fire. They go on feeding off people and I hang back until the urge to feed takes over and I join them.
Lily soon comes and stops the party.
"I fought tirelessly to reunite us. Found ways to coexist in this new world, and invited Zoe into our family. Sacrificed everything to make us a family again. How dare you jeopardize that? All of you. The bloodshed ends now." Lily says and walks off, we follow her.
"Zoe?" Caroline calls out but I ignore her.
