The next morning I woke up to my phone ringing, it was Damon. My plan was to sleep through Christmas, not knowing how to spend it without Bonnie.

"Hey, so um Kai has kidnapped Jo, I could use a little help since Ric doesn't exactly like me right now." I sigh rubbing my eyes.

"Where am I meeting you?" I ask him with a sigh.

"The cemetery." He says and hangs up. I roll my eyes and get dressed.

I speed off to the cemetery to already see Ric's car. I see Kai throw Damon with magic and Damon starts burring. I walk over to Kai and he smiles at me but turns back to Damon.

"Oh whoops." he says trading spots with Damon so he was in Mystic Falls. "Looks like you found the anti-magic border." Kai tells him and I cross my arms." Drew a line in the dirt for everyone's convenience, see?" Kai asks tracing the line with his foot.

"Wow, thanks, so helpful." I say sarcastically and Kai winks at me.

"Yeah, you're welcome." I shake my head at him. Ric comes up behind him holding a gun to his head and my eyes widen.

"Thank you, kill him." Damn tells Ric and my chest tightens.

Before I could say anything Jo comes out and does it for me.

"Alaric, don't." 

"What are you talking about?" He asks her.

"She's light-headed and confused. I'll give her some blood. Kill him." Damon says and I sigh and look down avoiding Kai's eyes as he stares me down.

"No, you can't. If Kai dies, Liv and Luke have to do the merge. It's not fair to them." Jo explains. I finally look up and meet Kai's eyes. His face is blank but I can feel the hurt he feels of me not helping him. 

"Who cares." Damon says and with a huff, I speed over snatching the gun from Ric and push him off of Kai. I gasp as my skin starts to burn and I'm unable to breathe. I remember how Kathrine smothered me with a pillow after shoving her blood down my throat. Damon yanked me back as Kai looked at me worried. Ric picks up the gun I dropped and pistol whips Kai who passes out.

"Why would you do that?" Damon spits at me.

I shake my head." He's not evil, he's hurt just like you when you first came to Mystic Falls and just like the Mikaelson's." I tell him and he scoffs.

"You and the Mikealson's, why do you always have to save the bad guys, huh?" Damon spits at me again and I scoff.

"If I didn't try to save the bad guys, you wouldn't be here." I spit back and storm off going back home to spend Christmas alone, not before visiting Sheriff Forbes in the hospital and dropping off her favorite flowers.

I was sitting at home watching Bonnie's collection of Christmas Movies when there was a knock on my door. I pause the movie and stand up with a sigh. My eyes widen when I open the door.

"You remembered to lock the door." Kai says with a big smile before my world went dark.

"See we never went out to eat when I was a little kid. So, I always had this fascination with chefs and fine dining." I slowly wake up but keep my eyes closed shielding them from the lights.

"My dad actually loves to cook. He's old school, of course. He taught me to measure by the eye, season by taste, and all that stuff. But it's different now in the restaurant world." Is that Kai? I slowly blink my eyes open as he continues to talk.

"I mean, everything's on timers. It's like, fries go in, you push a button, ding, you take them out. Literally no guesswork." Kai says as we make eye contact.

"What the fuck? Where am I? What happened?" I ask Kai and he smiles.

"Well, funny story, I came to your house to ask you out on a date, but because I siphoned all the magic surrounding Mystic falls from the traveler's spell, I have magic oozing out of me and I accidentally magically snapped your neck." Kai explains and I sigh. I look around and see Elena who's awake but groggy.

"Why is she here?" I ask Kai.

"I'll get to that, you should eat." Kai says I look down to see a plate in front of me.

"Not hungry."

Kai's face goes dark." I said eat." I Shakely pick up a fork and knife." You need to get your energy back." He says normally.

I don't eat I just move the food around on my plate.

"Why am I here?" Elena speaks up and asks.

"Well, I spent 18 years in abandoned restaurants, and now I'm trying to show off the fruits of my labor to Zoe but she is still not eating." Kai kinda snaps at the end and I stiffen.

"I didn't mean the Mystic Grill." Elena continues trying to get his attention off of me. Thank you, Elena.

"Oh, you mean like here, in Mystic Falls? Sorry I'm nervous, this is my first date in 18 years and Zoe is very pretty." Kai says giving me a dopey smile. I gulp at how quickly his emotions can change.

"You know I didn't realize I was out of control until I met the manager a few hours ago." Kai says ignoring Elena and looking at me. "And he was all like, You can't come in here, we're closed and you have 2 unconscious girls over your shoulders and I was like don't judge me. So, then I gave him a heart attack, or at least tried to. But all I did was make him vomit uncontrollably, which was like, ugh. All right, let's stop that. So I tried again. And I think I broke his spine. I'm not really sure. Because the third time I tried the spell, he kind of exploded in blood." Kai tells me.

I let out a huffed laugh in surprise." Seriously?" I ask and Kai nods with a smile.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Elena asks him.

"I just told you, I have too much magic." Kai tells her and I roll my eyes." You know it wasn't until my test run with the manager that I realized if I start to merge with Jo and my gushing fountains of Magic turn her into that guy... Then I'm not going to have a twin for the merge. So, Elena, that's why your here. Because I need to get my magic under control by practicing with you." he says and I frown." Or rather on you."

"Oh, hey, P.S., silver lining, after the manager finally stopped thrashing around, I finally managed a cloaking spell. Thank you. It's easy to do, and undo." He says and then says the spell causing a dead body to appear on the table. I gasp as does Elena.

"Ewww." I whine standing up. Kai chuckles and grabs my waist pulling me to sit on his lap.

"Table for four, ha, it was a double date this whole time, you had no idea." Kai laughs.
