'I love you Miriam' said a blonde woman with a British accent. She was perched on the edge of the bed, stroking her hair. The sunlight poured into the bedroom, illuminating her soft and slightly wrinkled skin.
The woman stood abruptly, a stern look plastered across her face. 'Miriam, you need to leave! She shouted.

Miriam opened her eyes to Raphael shaking her arm. 'Miriam wake up, you need to leave. They're here.'

'What. Who's here?'

'Clary and the shadowhunters.'

'Look I know I'm a hostage and that but, I kinda want to stay.' Miriam closed her eyes again.

'No, don't you dare go back to sleep.'

'Sorry I can't hear you, I'm sleeping.'

Raphael pulled the duvet from Miriam leaving her skin bare against the icy breeze.

'For god sake Raphael' Miriam finally sat up.

Raphael began to laugh.

'Shut up' Miriam scowled.

'Make me' he smirked.

'Don't say that Raphael because I will do it.'

'And I wouldn't be complaining.' He said as he strolled over to the door. 'Now get dressed' he closed it behind him.

Miriam smirked as she began to get dressed, folding Raphael's shirt and laying it neatly on the bed.

'Miriam!' Clary screeched pulling her into a tight hug. 'I'm so sorry I didn't mean for any of this to happen. Are you and Simon okay?'

' I don't know about Simon but I am absolutely fine.'

'She's been well taken care of.' said Raphael.

'She doesn't look like much of a hostage. Jace raised his eyebrows.

'I'm afraid you might not be able to say the same for Simon. He's been with Camille all night.'

'If he is hurt, you will have broken the accords. Jace warned.

'They already broke the accords when they kidnapped a mundane and a warlock.' Alec interrupted.

'It was Camille who broke the accords. She is head of the clan which means I couldn't have disobeyed her. However, she knows she is not to harm the mundane' Raphael spoke.

Suddenly, Simon ran into the room panting and resting on his knees.

'Simon! I thought you were hurt.' Clary grabbed him into a bear hug. 'We need to leave.'

'No!' Raphael interjected.

'I don't have the cup.' Clary pleaded. 'Why do you think I was at the city of bones? I was trying to get my memories back but they're gone I don't know where the cup is, and I don't know if I'm ever going to find it. So, Raphael there is no reason for you to keep them as hostages.'

Raphael had Simon with a knife against his throat before he could even blink. Raphael was breathing heavily, his fangs now protruding from his mouth. She would never admit it, but Miriam now had butterflies in more than one place.

Although his movements were swift, the shadowhunters were almost as fast, their seraph blades were now on show.

'Put them away.' Raphael shouted.

Clary began whining something to Jace.
'Just do it Clary you don't want Simon to be hurt.' Jace ordered.

'He's right. I've had enough of the mundane now.' He spat. 'And I'd love to slit his throat so please, don't give me a reason.'
'Follow me.' Raphael dragged Simon along as he inched up the stairwell.
'Up here, now!' He raised his voice making everyone including Miriam jump.
Raphael continued shouting orders and pushing everyone until they reached the door.

'No! Not without Simon.' Clary screeched.

'And Miriam.' Said Alec.

'Take them, take them and go.' Raphael pushed Simon away as he hid from the sunlight.

'We'll meet again Miriam. Raphael planted a kiss atop her forehead. 'I promise.'

'Goodbye Raphael.' Miriam said before pulling him into a hug.

He wrapped his arms tight on her waist, his fingers clutching at her back.

'Go, while you still can' Raphael breathed.

Miriam took one last look before closing the door, leaving Raphael in the darkness.
