Chapter 9 Re.

Zabuza's knowledge of the human body impressed you, but it seemed to scare everyone else. You then saw Kakashi channelling his chakra, this caused the fog to clear slightly. It was getting annoying not being able to see, so you quietly thanked Kakashi. He looked over at you and nodded; you nodded back. The silent exchange was enough for you to understand that Kakashi was telling you to be careful. As Zabuza had mentioned before, your attack style would work best if you knew where your enemy was. You attacked head-on and blew them up hence the name ninja of destruction (which was a name that you weren't exactly fond of). You looked around to see if anyone was injured in any way and stumbled upon a scenario that you would have never thought would be possible. Sasuke showing emotion, and quite a lot of it at that. He looked horrified as if he had relived his trauma once again. It was as if the intensity of the battle alone was enough to kill him on the spot. If that would be the case it would make Zabuza's job slightly easier, and you couldn't let that happen.

You were about to say something before Kakashi intervened.

"Sasuke, calm down, I'll protect you with my life; all of you. I will not allow my comrades to die, trust me," Kakashi reassured. This seemed to help the situation and even slightly relaxed the other Genin as well.

"I wouldn't be so sure," Zabuza said, as he appeared in-between the Genin and Tazuna.

"Damnit," You cursed under your breath and tried attacking him.

Zabuza pointed his sword at your neck and you couldn't get any closer.

"It's over," Zabuza hissed. 

As he was preparing for an attack Kakashi's Sharingan had activated and he reacted quickly. Before Zabuza could swing his sword and kill all of the children and the client Kakashi ran over to them, pushed them away and stabbed Zabuza with a kunai. You had also reacted to Zabuza preparing for an attack and punched his stomach, creating an explosion.

Unfortunately, Zabuza had created a clone and water mixed with the fire of your explosion created a temporary sizzling noise. The real Zabuza then appeared behind you and Kakashi, attempting to attack with the oversized sword. You dodged while creating a simple dust clone and Kakashi had copied Zabuza's technique and created a water clone before the clones were sliced in half by the sword you enjoyed calling 'overkill'. Zabuza's eyes filled with dust from your clone and you threw two kunai at him. When Zabuza was distracted due to the dust, Kakashi appeared behind him and put a kunai to his neck. You did the same, except you were using a kunai coated in a poison that you managed to snag from the demon brother's pouches.

"Don't move," Kakashi warned threateningly, burning holes into Zabuza's head.

"Now it's over, you're finished," you concluded, moving the kunai closer to the scumbag's (Zabuza's) neck, making sure that he couldn't escape but also making sure that you didn't pierce any of his tanned skin. "To think that a simple, academy-level clone jutsu would affect you so much," you smirked, referring to your dust clone.

"All right!" Naruto yelled with a smile, Sakura giggled in relief, and Sasuke was just being well... Sasuke. 

Zabuza started chuckling menacingly and this confused both you and Kakashi, but you couldn't let your guard down.

"Finished?" Zabuza taunted questioningly. You just knew that he was smirking under those stupid bandages. "The two of You really don't get it, do you? Your technique is nothing but a crass imitation, I'll never be defeated by a mere copycat ninja like you," He insulted, referring to Kakashi. "You're completely useless if your target avoids your range of attack and moves faster than you," Zabuza ridiculed you. This angered you, but it seemed to anger Kakashi even more.

"Look, say whatever you want about me and my technique, but don't talk about Y/N like that. She is stronger than you'll ever be," Kakashi defended.

This created a warm feeling in your chest but you pushed those thoughts aside and focused back on the battle. Zabuza chuckled even more after that.

"The two of you are still full of surprises though. Kakashi, you'd already copied my water clone jutsu when you made your little speech. Y/N you had used such a simple jutsu and still managed to distract me with it. Very skillfully executed and that goes for the both of you," Zabuza praised. You weren't sure what was going through his mind, he had literally crushed your self-esteem a second ago and now he was praising your skills even after calling them useless; just what was this guy trying to do? "You made your water clone say those words to draw my attention, while you hid in the mist, waiting for me to make my move. Nice try, but I'm not that easy to fool," Before you had the time to think the water clone that was in front of you disappeared and the real Zabuza snuck up behind you and Kakashi.

"Hey, that ones a clone too!" Naruto shouted, stating the obvious.

Zabuza swung his sword but missed since you and Kakashi ducked just in time to avoid getting killed. The sword landed in the ground, but Zabuza held the top of the handle, jumped and twisted himself in midair kicking Kakashi into the air which resulted in you getting flung as well as you were behind him. Zabuza then ran trying to get closer to the two of you, however, you had thrown some makibishi spikes onto the ground before landing in the water, to try and slow Zabuza down. It worked to some extent but Zabuza ended up just diving into the water after seeing them.

"Sensei! Y/N!" Naruto yelled, concern in his tone.

You and Kakashi emerged from the water, once you glanced at Kakashi you couldn't help but find that the way his hair had been pushed down looked slightly cute, but it wasn't the time to be thinking that way and so you regained your focus once more. You couldn't help but realise that the water somehow felt dense and heavy. You looked at Kakashi again and it seemed like he had realised it too. Zabuza then came up behind you and Kakashi.

"Ha, fools," Zabuza performed multiple hand signs, "Water prison Jutsu," He said.

You had recognised that Jutsu but it was too late to try and escape by the time your brain had comprehended what was happening. You and Kakashi were then enclosed in a ball of water that was virtually impossible to get out of from the inside. Not only that, but you were in close proximity to each other. Luckily you could still breathe in this so-called 'prison'. "This prison is made of water, but it's stronger than steel. It's hard to fight when you can't move, so much for the great Kakashi and the Great Y/N. I'll finish the two of you off later, but first, your little friends will have to be eliminated," It annoyed you immensely how he spoke so lowly of you and Kakashi, and how he was planning on hurting the students so you tried punching and blowing the prison up (It didn't work). Zabuza then performed the water clone Jutsu again, slightly impressing you with the amount of chakra he had to be able to perform such a complex Jutsu while keeping another (even more complex Jutsu) from cancelling itself. "You think wearing a headband makes you a ninja when you've hovered between life and death so many times it doesn't faze you; then you may be called a ninja. When you've become so deadly your profile is entered in my bingo book, then you may have earned the title ninja. But to call upstarts like you ninja is a joke," Zabuza explained and his clone faded into the mist.
