Note: This chapter is set many years later when Kakashi is already the sensei of team 7, and you are now the second sensei.

Reminder: set in Y/N's point of view

Today was going to be your first-day meeting team 7, well, most of it. You've known Naruto for a while since Minato asked you to take care of him before his... well, you know what I'm talking about. After the fateful day many years ago, you and Kakashi had grown closer and created bonds with others along the way. A few people, the ones closest to you, had unfortunately passed on. Kakashi helped you through a lot, and you helped him in return. You and Kakashi had never actually had a squad of Genin, well... it would be more accurate to say that you've never passed any groups. Teamwork was a key aspect in being a ninja and no Genin squads had displayed that skill yet. Little did you know, that this group would be very different from the rest.

You had been away on a mission assigned to you by the Hokage, so you hadn't met your squad yet. Kakashi had been regularly sending you letters but he didn't want to reveal the identities of the Genin just yet. He had already met them, but you hadn't. Today was the time for their bell test and you had to be there to help Kakashi assess the Genin on their skills.

This may sound quite pathetic but Kakashi barely ever makes decisions without your input and vice versa. In most cases, it's considered a weakness since many people believe that relying on someone else's input makes you less independent. In reality, making decisions on your own was something you were quite good at, and so was Kakashi. However, since you could make those decisions quite easily, getting Kakashi's input always helped in making that choice even better.

It was quite early in the morning now and you made your way over to the training grounds. You wondered if this group of Genin would be any different from the rest and if they could take the bells using teamwork instead of their individual skills. You also thought about who could've been assigned to the team. You wanted Naruto to be a part of it but despite being so close to him, it wasn't guaranteed that the Hokage would assign him to your team.

As you neared the training grounds you could see three Genin standing by the trees. Fortunately, one of them was Naruto, another was someone you recognised as Sasuke Uchiha and the last Genin wasn't someone that you could recognise right away but they seemed to be a girl with pink hair.

Once you arrived at the area, all of their attention had been pointed to you and so you introduced yourself.

"I'm sure that Kakashi may have told the three of you already that I will be a second sensei for this team, I couldn't make it to the meeting yesterday so how about you all introduce yourselves to me now," you said, trying to break the thick layer of silence between all of the Genin.

"I'm Naruto Uzumaki and I'm gonna be Hokage someday! Believe it! but you already knew that," Naruto told you enthusiastically showing you a massive closed eye smile. The other two Genin gave you and Naruto questioning looks. Giving you the impression that they weren't aware of the fact that you and Naruto already know each other.

"Yes Naruto I was definitely aware of that," you answered him, your smile gracing your lips."Now, who is willing to introduce themselves next?" you asked.

"I'm Sakura Haruno and my dream is to become a ninja so that when I have a family of my own I will be able to protect them," She told you, a blush adorning her features.

"That's great Sakura, I'm sure that you'll grow to be an amazing ninja," you said to her, making her blush deepen out of embarrassment. "Now, I think that it's your turn," you spoke gesturing towards the Uchiha.

"I'm Sasuke Uchiha, and my dream is not a dream because I will make it a reality, and it's to kill a certain someone," he claimed in an almost emotionless voice. You say almost since there were obvious traces of malice laced beneath his words.

"Well that's just delightful isn't it Sasuke," you responded with distinct sarcasm. "I guess we'll be waiting here a while since Kakashi hasn't shown up yet, so I suggest getting some rest in. You're all probably tired since you woke up so early," you advised. You knew the pain of waking up early only for your sensei to be many hours late, having gone through it yourself.

After many hours of waiting, Kakashi had finally decided to show himself. You have grown used to him being late but that didn't stop it from getting on your nerves.

"Where were you Kakashi-sensei? We've been waiting here for hours," Sakura asked with her hands on her hips, almost as if she was getting ready to scold or lecture him like a mother.

"A black cat crossed my path so I had to take another route," He answered nonchalantly as he always does. You knew that this wasn't true. The real reason he was late was that he was paying his respects to Obito and Rin, still blaming himself for their deaths that happened many years ago; back when you were all slightly older than the Genin standing before you. "I take it that you have all been acquainted with Y/N,"  he remarked.

"Yeah, we have, believe it!" Naruto answered, whilst the rest of the team nodded their heads in agreement.

"That's good to know. I guess we should get on with training now," Kakashi inquired, leading everyone into a large clearing; which had three wooden posts on the left side of it. Oh, how those posts brought back memories of when you had just become a Genin assigned to team Minato.

"The aim of this test is for you three to get these bells off of me by midday. If you fail you will all not be able to eat, and will be tied to the posts over there to watch me and Y/N eat our lunches," he explained, expressions of defeat flashing across the students' faces.

"But Kakashi sensei why there are three of us and only two bells?" Sakura questioned. "And on top of that, we aren't a match for two Jonin, how are we even supposed to get the bells?"

"Well that way at least one of you will end up tied to a post, and ultimately disqualified for failing to complete the mission. That one goes back to the academy. Oh, and to answer your question about how you're supposed to get the bells: Y/N will not be participating in combat, however, that does not make this training any easier," Kakashi explained with a smug smile on his face, ringing the bells after.

"Then again all three of you could flunk out too. You can use any weapons, including shuriken. If you're not prepared to kill him you won't be able to take the bells," you stated to the Genin, smirking a bit in the process. They all had looks of determination evident in their features.

"Those weapons are too dangerous sensei," Sakura yelled opening her arms out.

"Especially since you couldn't even dodge that eraser," Naruto remarked chuckling with his arms behind his head. You looked at Kakashi with curiosity, wondering what exactly happened the day before.

"Class clowns are usually the weakest links, you can safely ignore them. Lowest scores, losers." Kakashi said in a snarky way, whilst Naruto grunted in anger.

"When I say start you can begin," you told the Genin. Naruto, however, clearly angry, took out one of his shuriken and lunged himself at Kakashi out of pure annoyance. Kakashi caught Naruto's hand before it could touch him, and moved it so that the shuriken was pointing to the back of Naruto's head. Expressions of amazement made themselves apparent on Sakura and Sasuke's faces.

"Don't be in such a hurry, they didn't say start yet. But you came at me with the full intention of destroying me so... how can I say this? I'm actually starting to like you guys," Kakashi said as a way of complimenting his students. The three Genin seemed even more resolute than before.

"Get ready and... start!" you shouted as the students all jumped into the air simultaneously.
