Look Up Child

The Big Debut

Stefania's POV

We were on our way to Jessica's step-dad's house for the premiere of Grey's and Station 19 because Jess insisted on hosting for Nat's big debut. 

I looked back and noticed Nat bouncing her leg rapidly and looking out the window absentmindedly. Wordlessly, I reached my hand back and tapped her knee to get her attention and for her to grab my hand.

She takes my hand and continues to bounce her leg up and down. I didn't want her to be anxious when we go in there. "Baby, can you stop the car in the parking lot of the park up here?" I ask Danielle. She looks at me and nods without questioning.

We stop at the park. "Mama, why are we stopped?" Nat asks. "Come on, we need to dance it out." I tell her as I let go of her hand and get out. I get out my phone and connect it to the car and put on Nat's favorite dance song. I start dancing as Danielle and Nat are still getting out. 

We move up on to the grass and continue our dancing. "Mamma, you're silly." Nat says laughing as she sees me dancing. "I'm only silly for you and Mommy. Come on, bambina. Dance with me." I tell her as I grab her hands and start moving her arms in a dance. 

Danielle starts to dance with me and soon enough Nat is joined in. We make it to the end of the song and we are laughing because we have had such fun. "Do you feel better, princess?" Danielle asks Nat. "I do, I always have fun when I am with you both. And you always know how to make me feel better. Thank you Mommy, thank you Mamma." Nat says to us. I swear this girl makes my heart melt by how polite she is.

"Natalia, I have to say. I love how polite you are to everyone and how kind you are. I know your mamma and papà had everything to do with that. Mommy and I appreciate how you continue to be kind to everyone." I tell her. "Mamma's right baby girl. You are so kind and we appreciate how kind and polite you are to everyone." Danielle adds with a big smile. 

"I just want to make you both proud." Nat says shyly, looking down. I take my hands and place them on her cheeks and lift her face up to look at me. "You make us so proud, bambina. Danielle and I could not have gotten any luckier to have a daughter as kind and thoughtful as you." I tell her with a big smile. 

She reaches to give us a hug and Danielle picks her up. We all get into a group hug. Danielle and I pepper Nat with kisses and make sure she knows she is so loved. "I love you both." Nat says, breathless from all the giggling from the kisses. "We love you so much, princess." Danielle answers.

We make our way back to the car. Danielle stops me to give me a kiss on the lips. "You're so incredible, Stef." She says with a big smile on her face. "You make me want to be incredible for her. You both give me so many reasons to be incredible." I tell her. I give her one more kiss before getting back into the car. 

"What about mine?" Nat asked, pouting. I look back and pucker my lips as I stretch to meet Nat in the middle. I give her a kiss and she giggles after saying, "thanks, mamma." 

Nat's POV

We made it to Auntie Jessica's step-dad's house and we are met by an older man at the door. I hide behind Mamma and Mommy's hands, while moving closer to Mommy. "Hi, Mr. Spielberg. Thank you for letting us have our premiere party in your home." Danielle says. 

This was Steven Spielberg. Oh my goodness. "Please call me Steve, Dani. You know that. It's nice to see you again, Stefania." He says then bends down so he is at my height. "And this must be the famous, Natalia. It's a pleasure to meet you, Jessica has spoken very highly of you." He finishes and I reach out to shake his hand as he shakes it.

"It's a pleasure to meet you too, Mr. Steve. My favorite movie of yours has to be 'The BFG.' I watched it all the time back in Italy when I was younger. Mamma, Mommy. Have you seen it?" I ask them curiously. "I have, bambina." Mamma tells me. "I was at the premiere with Mr. Steve, princess." Mommy says excitedly. 

"That's so cool!" I tell her with a big smile. "Well Ms. Nat. I hope it's okay that I call you that. Jess has said you prefer that name. And she has said that these two have recently adopted you. Congratulations to all!" Steve says excitedly. He puts out his hand for a high five and I give him one.

To my surprise and his, I run in and give him a hug. He pouts up to Mommy and Mamma in cuteness and gives me a hug back.

"Natty girl! You've met my dad." I hear Jess in the background. "Auntie Jess!" I say and run to give her a hug. She lifts me up in her arms and returns the hug and kisses my head. She returns me to the ground and her kids are right behind her.

"Hi Luke. Hi Eve. Hi Poppy. Hi Josie!" I tell each of them excitedly and give them a hug. "They were so excited to see you, that's all they talked about." Jess says. I blush and go off with my friends to play in the other room.

I run back because I forgot to ask Mamma and Mommy if that was okay. "Mamma, Mommy. I am sorry, I forgot to ask. May I please go play with my friends?" I ask them. "That is more than okay, my girl. Thank you for asking. We will come get you when the show is starting." Mommy says and kisses the top of my head.

I go off and play with the kids for a while and they are very good about sharing their toys. Mamma and Mommy approach us and I know that means the show is about to start. "Hang on Mommys, I have to help Josie pick up her toys." I say, knowing Josie is still too young to know how to pick up. "All finished, Josie." I say to her with a smile. "Is it time for the show mommys?" I ask them as I take each of their hands as we make our way to the big screen.

"These are our seats, Nat. Auntie Jess made sure to save them for us. We can all sit together since it's like a bed." Mamma explained to us. "Are you okay with that? We can find lounge chairs otherwise." She adds. "It's perfect, Mamma. I get to snuggle with you both." I say with a cute smile.

"Alright everyone, Station 19 is starting!" Jess yelled out and everyone quickly found their seats. It was a crossover episode with Grey's. We all laid down cuddled up close to each other. They each gave me a kiss on the head before it started.

"Keep an eye out for your name, bambina." Mamma whispered excitedly in my ear. It went to mommy's name. "Mommy, that's you!" I say excitedly and then my jaw dropped when I saw my name.

I didn't know they were able to get the name swapped in time. I thought my old name would be displayed for the first episodes. My eyes became watery. I noticed many people's smiles were on me. I buried my face into Mamma's chest and cried. "Are those happy tears, principessa?" Mamma asked. I nodded into her chest. "We are so proud of you baby. Don't forget to look up or you'll miss your debut!" Mommy said as she stroked my hair gently.

The show went on and their were loud cheers for everyone, but the cheers were loudest for me. This made me blush so badly. 

I noticed Auntie Jess getting close to Sara, and made a note to eventually ask her about this. For now, I enjoyed being snuggled up to my moms enjoying the premiere.

When the premiere was over, we took a lot of pictures and Ms. Krista even announced that the numbers were amazing for the episodes. Fans were also going crazy over Stella. She came over and gave me a big hug and congratulated me.

I was so proud of my mommys and I was proud of myself. Right after the Station 19 episode was over, they made sure to post the big update for everyone. 

Mommy had checked a bit on commercial breaks and fans were going crazy. They were for the most part respectful and understanding of this new dynamic. I couldn't believe it. I had the best moms, best friends that were more like family, and everyone looking out for me.

I am on top of the world.

Author's Notes: Hi all, I think I am going to tentatively end this book here and possibly come back to it in the future or write a sequel. I have many other ideas swirling in my mind that it has been a struggle to continue to write this book. I have ideas for another book that I am going to start after the break. I will mark this as complete as I don't know if I will come back to this, but I am hoping to come back.
