Chapter sixty
How my brother was alive I have no idea but I don't care. He's breathing and is perfectly fine. He may not be in the best situation but he's alive. Nat's completely shut down and now sits on my bed tucked in a ball shes so guilty.
We've told her over and over again we forgive her but it's not just us, it's herself, she can't forgive herself.
She's now fast asleep on my bed and wrapped in my duvet and blankets. Pansy knocked on our door twice this morning asking if we'd seen Nat but both Mae and I told her we didn't know and we didn't care, lies. Nat was all warm under my bedsheets fast asleep.
We told her not to worry about classes for today and rest whilst we picked up the work she needed and Wes help her with it later.
I met up with Draco before breakfast for a quick kiss and a conversation before heading to the great hall with Mae to get some food.
I had charms first and I was really missing Harry as my partner as we'd always have the best laughs, but now he's out in the world hunting Horcrux's for the wizarding world. I hope he's safe.
Next I had herbology, such a bore. All Professor Sprout goes on about is plants and safety, she couldn't make the lesson more boring. At least I had Alex to cheer me up and we'd always have a joke or two in the greenhouse.
It was break and I once again met up with Draco. We went to our spot by the lake and sat together, although we couldn't keep our hands off each other. If it wasn't for Mae running down the hill we wouldn't have moved from that spot for the rest of the day.
Mae had dragged me away from Draco to return to classes. We had Potions. Boring. Ingredients. Cauldrons. Blah blah blah.
Luckily that was it as I had a free period and then didn't have another class until midnight for Astrology, finally something I'm interested in.
Mae and I made our way back to dorm after stopping at the library so I could grab a few books for the essay I had to write on about sneezewort, who would ever want to write about that?
I'd also grabbed two books Nat would need to catch up on the work in lessons but Mae and I would happily do the work for her as she wasn't in the right mindset at the moment.
We returned to our room where Nat was laying silently in my bed staring down at her arm, another thing she'd been doing for the past day.
I shook my head and dropped the books on my dresser before wrapping my arms around Nat and pulling her into my chest. I stroked her hair and let her tears fall until she wiped them away and moved away from my embrace and towards the books on the dresser.
"Nat you don't have to" I told her as she grabbed them.
"I want to Serena. All this crying isn't going to make anything different" She spoke and threw the books onto the bed and opened one to a page. She picked the book up and began to read in silence.
-
Three hours later I slammed my potions book shut and huffed and shook my hand to realise the tension. Whoever invented essays really hated this life.
I looked beside me to see Nat drooling across the pages of her text book and then Mae had passed out on her own bed. I laughed and wished I had one of those muggle cameras my dad would always talk about to capture this moment.
I laughed silently and pulled the books from under Nats face and tucked her under my duvet, doing the same with Mae before heading out the door with my bag.
I walked through the quiet common room, in fact it was silent. Nobody was sat around the fire nor around tables. It was empty.
I slipped out the dormitory door and into the silent corridor. I walked down it until I was met with the staircase and I room each one until I arrived at the Astronomy tower.
Professor Sinistra stood at the door with a kind smile and handed me a book on planets. More revision. I'd read this book more than twice and it never gets boring. Everyone sat on the cushioned seats surrounding the classroom.
Sinistra stood in the middle and I saw the head of blond hair poke through the doorway and head towards a cushion beside me, as it was the only one left. I smiled as he sat behind me but he didn't return it, we didn't want to get caught.
I turned back towards Sinistra where she told us we'd study the planets once again and write our own synopsis on each one.
I stood up from my seat and walked over to the telescopes and grabbed it to take over to the edge of the tower. I set it up before opening my book and choosing a planet.
Class was finished after an hour but I stayed behind to finish my project so I wouldn't have to do it later. Professor Sinistra told me that was fine but to be out by 2 am but it's now 2:45 and I'm still looking out of my telescope. I was now staring at the marks in the moon and trying to find pictures in them as I'd finished my work but I didn't want to leave.
A picture was beginning to flash in my mind but I couldn't think because I heard footsteps tap against the stairs of the tower.
I quickly pulled away from the telescope and looked around for anywhere to hide, the best place was behind the tall throne looking chair that Sinistra sits in. I ran behind it and ducked as the footsteps became louder.
The shoes were noticeable at first glance. Black loafers with a think heel. Draco.
I smiled and moved away from the chair and walked behind him. I wrapped my arms around his waist and he tended but once I spoke his body relaxed and I held onto him for the rest of the night.
