Dear Diary,

I was right. Mr. and Mrs. Amison made all of us work again today. I have a feeling they will keep doing this to us until they think we have learned our lesson.  Everyone I think that hasn’t been punished from us thinks that we probably should be beginning to leave but no one has yet. I think that in some way we all think that this is partially our fault because we all knew that there would be consequences for talking to either one of their daughters if we got caught.  We all have still been talking to Amy and holding a conversation. She has been telling us that if we were going to escape that she would like to go with us. We have been asking our parents and they said we are going to leave before mama has the baby; we hope.  I hope for the sake of my almost little sister that my parents get up the courage and leave but I really don’t think they will. Darryl and I have been telling mama and daddy it would be good for the baby if they left but they keep telling us that it is too risky to attempt it. I have told Darryl time and time again that if mama and daddy don’t leave when they said they would then I am leaving on my own with anyone who wants to come with me. He tells me to just give mama and daddy a little more time and tells me to think of how it would affect them if they woke up one morning and went to find me and heard that I had escaped that night.  That’s the only thing keeping me here now because mama and daddy would be devastated if they would have never told me good-bye before I had left. I think this is one of a couple fights that Darryl and I have been stopped at with no one winning it. I have been trying to decide what to do for hours now and I still haven’t made a decision yet. I’m going to lay down now. I promise I will write tomorrow and tell you what my choice is.

Your Friend,
