Dear Diary,
I didn’t know what to do last night after I saw the front page. I know that the soldiers here are trying to stop this and they just want us aware of it, but what about the slaves who were brought over the “free border”? What do they expect us to do when we see this? How are we supposed to react? They keep telling me everything will be okay, that they won’t let anything happen to me but I’m still a little nervous about it all. I trust them, but what would happen if cops come searching for run-away slaves and they find me? Number one, Mrs. Rebecca and her sister would get in so much trouble for keeping me in hiding and I would go back to the torture place and most likely sold to someone else. I don’t want to think about this though, because I truly love them. I believe they will do anything to keep me safe but I can’t risk their lives being ruined because of me.
