19th August 1971
"Hello ?" I hopped up from the sofa and answered the phone, wondering who was the over end of the receiver.
"Lottie ? It's Noah, have I got the right number ?" I heard the familiar voice of the brunette from last night, though he sounded a little more sober now.
"Hiya, yeah it's me." I chuckled a little at the obvious nervousness and panic in Noah's tone. He didn't sound very confident without the alcohol.
"Oh good. How are you ?"
"I'm good thanks, what about you ?"
"Yeah I'm ok thanks. I was wondering if erm, if you wanted to go out sometime ?" I was a little shocked and started playing with the buttons on my shirt as I thought of my response.
Noah seemed like a nice guy, and if I hadn't met Roger I would of said yes a lot quicker. I couldn't stop thinking about the fact I'd been asked specifically not to go out with Noah, by Roger. But still, I didn't even know who the drummer was a week ago, why should I listen to him ?
"Um... yeah. Yeah ok." I blushed and smiled as Noah chuckled in relief.
"How about Friday ? I know a nice place."
"Yeah that would be great." My head was going crazy. I had no idea what was going through my mind to actually consider going out with some stranger from the pub, it wasn't really my thing. Still, I'd agreed to see Noah.
"Ok, I'll pick you up from yours around seven, is that alright ?" I agreed, my cheeks going insanely red. The drummers words were still floating around my mind, but my excitement was slowly drowning out and thoughts I'd had about Roger. Noah was a nice guy who was actually asking me out, I doubted I would ever have a chance with Roger bloody Taylor anyway.
-
I sat on the sofa watching some band on Top of the Pops, though I wasn't focused on the tv one bit. I was completely distracted thinking about Friday and of course, Noah.
"Sis, it's me." After hurriedly tapping on the door and not giving me a chance to get up, my sister walked into the flat. She had a habit of just popping in for a chat every so often.
"Oh hi Emily, couldn't of given me a chance to answer the door ?" I smiled sarcastically and laughed as my sister shook her head.
"It's was open." She shrugged. Emily crashed down onto the sofa and changed the channel before lighting a cigarette.
"Make yourself at home." I laughed. "Do you want a cup of tea ?" I put on the kettle and turned to face my sister as she nodded and released a large cloud of smoke.
"Do mum and dad know you smoke ? Your barley even eighteen." My eyes locked onto hers, watching as her expression turned shy and embarrassed.
"Oh so they don't know." I laughed and shook my head. Emily just nodded along and brushed her brown locks out of her face. She was so pretty, I was always a tad jealous of my younger sisters breathe taking looks. But still, we were so close. Emily was really my best friend. We'd grown up with only two years between us, meaning every memory of our childhood we shared with one another.
"Considering I still live with them I think that's pretty fucking impressive." Emily exclaimed. I shrugged and nodded in agreement before handing her a hot cup of tea.
"Thanks." She replied, putting out her cig in the ash tray and taking a very small sip to test the warmth. "So anything new with you... anything actually interesting going on with you these days Tee ?"
"Well... you know my friend from college. Freddie Bulsara ?" I asked.
"Yeah they one from Zanzibar or wherever ? big-ish teeth and amazing cheek bones ?" I nodded and laughed as Emily continued to describe Freddie.
"Yeah him. Well he's in this band called 'Smile' and I went and saw one of their gigs last night." My mind quickly shot back to thinking about Roger as I blushed a little.
"You met someone didn't you. Oh my fuck... it wasn't one of Freddie's band mates was it ?" My little sister knew me too well to move past the fact my cheeks were turning a bright red and decided to further question me on who I was clearly thinking about.
"I did meet this guy called Noah. Noah Lee. I'm going out with him Friday." Emily instantly spat out her tea in shock and looked at me, her jaw nearly touching the floor. I laughed at her and took a sip out of my mug, my mind now fixed on Noah rather than the play boy drummer.
"No fucking way ! You haven't been out with anyone since you were with Jake, and that must of been at least half a year ago now." She smiled brightly at me and giggled.
"Yeah well Jake was a dick. I mean he cheated all the time. But this Noah guy is really sweet, I think. He seems a bit shy when he's not drinking."
"Aw Tee. I never thought you'd go on a date again." I jabbed Emily in the ribs and laughed. "Owww !"
"Oh shut up. Just because your living a perfect life with Lily."
"You're just jealous cause I've got a girl who loves me." She responded, smugly taking a sip of her nearly empty tea. I shook my head and and lit a cigarette.
"Well I'm happy for you Tee. I love you lots you know." We exchanged a little smile.
"I love you too Sis."
An- Sorry I know this is shit and this part was probably very boring but don't worry, it does start to get interesting :)
