30th October 1972

The day of work had been one long and boring, and one just about to end, with luckily no customers in sight for the past hour until I heard the door swing open and a pair of footsteps walk in my direction.

"Hiya Peps." I looked up from behind the till to find of course Roger smirking at me.

"What is it with you and stopping in when I'm at work." I laughed a little. "What's so bad about ringing someone these days ?"

"Dunno." He shrugged. "Maybe I just like to see you." Even though Roger's comment was most likely a joke, it still earned him a little blush from me. "Freddie's doing some big Halloween party tomorrow night at his place. He wondered if you were gonna come."

"Well is there gonna be drinks ?"

"Obviously."

"Well then I'm there." We both laughed a little, our eyes fixed on each other's. I had to look back down at the tills before I found myself confessing something I shouldn't to the drummer. Sometimes the thought of telling Roger the truth was tempting, but it wouldn't be fair on him or Lucy.

"Did you erm, did you wanna catch a cup of coffee or something in a sec." Roger asked, a tiny bit of shyness in his tone. I nodded and glanced over to the clock.

"I've got ten minutes of my shift left."

"I'll wait. Make myself busy looking at lovely girls clothes. Maybe I'll even buy something. Keep you in business." He chuckled, walking around the store with god knows what going through his mind as his eyebrows raised at the low cut pieces.

"Well that bright flowery shirt would really bring out your eyes." He furrowed his brows as I laughed, but soon joined me as my smile spread to him.

No more than twenty minutes later me and Roger were sat opposite one another in the nearest coffee shop, both typically with cups of tea in our hands.

"How's Lucy... is she ok ?" I asked. I didn't care how she was, I just thought it was something to fill the silence whilst we both waited for our mugs to become cooler.

"Yeah she's alright I think." I noticed the subject nearly made the drummer uncomfortable and tried to change it.

"How's the album going ? Surely you're nearly finished with recording by now." Roger chuckled a little and let out a deep sigh.

"You would think so. I think Freddie likes to get things done perfectly. I fucking end up falling asleep half the time."

"I remember. Do you always manage to get your arm wrapped round a girl too or was that just the one time ?" I smirked a little as Roger clicked his tongue and shook his head.

"No that was unfortunately just the one time. And I think it was the best kip I ever had in that studio." He nodded, taking his mug up to his lips as I bit down on the inside of my cheek nervously. I was suddenly tense and nervous around him, but that's because I was so scared I might let the truth slip that I liked him.

"Really ?"

"Yeah. Felt normal to have someone on my right."

"Hilarious." I replied sarcastically. Only a few brief moments of silence later, Roger picked up his mug again, this time a little too aggressively and spilt the tiniest bit on his jeans, earning a little giggle from me.

"Fuck." He grabbed the nearest napkin and patted the small wet patch the tea had left on his trouser leg as I laughed even harder at his slight panic.

"You muppet." He looked up at me and smiled, watching as I blushed slightly and tried to control the butterflies.

"Well yes it was a very muppety thing to do."

An- you're gonna love me after you've read the next chapter, and then even more after that :)
