2nd April 1972

an- the next few chapters are all gonna follow on from this so pay attention to the chapter titles :)

I woke up and took a brief moment to adjust to the bright sun light shining through the cracks in the blinds before remembering what day it was. My eyes suddenly shot open and I gasped in excitement.

"Happy birthday Charlotte." Noah walked into the bedroom, wearing only a towel round his waist, after obviously hearing me wriggling under the covers when waking up. I rubbed my eyes tiredly and thanked him, jumping out of bed to place a small kiss on his cheek.

"Sorry I didn't wanna wake you, so I just had a shower." I smiled and shrugged, unbothered by what he'd spent his morning doing. Mine and Noah's relationship was still a little distant, and I knew this politeness and kindness was only because it was my birthday, but the fake and brief love felt nice.

"No it's fine, don't worry." I wrapped a dressing gown round myself and made my way past the brunette stood at the door frame and into the kitchen. I filled the kettle up and placed it back in it's position on the stove before sliding two bits of fresh bread into the toaster.

"Are we still going to Brian's later yeah ?" Noah asked.

"Yeah, I think Deakys picking us both up since I have no idea where this new place is." I chuckled. Brian had just moved out of his shared flat with Roger, since apparently the blonde wasn't the best of roommates to have. He asked me if we could all meet round his new place, so he could have a chance to show it off a little and I could have a birthday party without having to worry about clearing up bottles for the next decade.

"Ok. Will Roger be there ?" Noah's tone had suddenly dropped and he was now acting like he usually did- like a miserable dick who despised Roger Taylor.

"He's one of my best friends Noah. I can't just not invite him. He's like-"

"Oh cmon save me the bullshit for now Charlotte." Noah snapped. I chose to ignore him and I instead made myself a cup of tea, not offering one to my boyfriend getting himself dressed in the bedroom. As I poured the boiling water into the mug, the toast popped up, scaring the shit out of me. I jumped a little bit and burnt myself with the scoldingly hot water.

"Oh fuck fuck fuck." I rushed over to the sink and turned on the cold tap, though I wasn't even sure if that was the right thing to do.

"What have you done now ?" Noah rolled his eyes at the sight of me stood stressed out at the sink.

"Burnt myself. Sorry." I murmured. I pulled my hand out from the cold water and dabbed it dry with the nearest tea towel, making sure I was distracted from Noah. I now had a nasty looking burn mark on my left hand.

"By the way, I didn't get you anything this year. I'm a little low on money but you know, we've not been dating long." He shrugged. I scoffed and shook my head. I knew full well he had money, since he seemed to have enough to drink every night.

"Noah with been dating for like seven months."

"Charlotte cmon don't get all bitchy about it."

After I finished doing my make up and let my hair fall around my face in natural, loose curls like I usually did, I was challenged with finding something to wear. Of course I wanted to look nice, it was my twenty first birthday, but I just didn't want to look like a total slag.

Noah was sat in the living room, occasionally asking me to hurry getting ready like he was in some great rush to go round Brian's. I did have to keep reminding him John wasn't getting us until six, but I must of been like a broken record to him.

Flicking through my wardrobe, I noticed a couple of nice dresses. Either a snug fitting small red dress or some old floral piece that was my mother's. I couldn't decide between the two dresses, so I instead put them back and kept on scanning intensely through my clothes.

My fingers had pushed every coat hanger to the left but one, leaving a small black leather dress to my attention. Specifically, the dress that Roger had said he'd liked to of seen me in a few days ago. I didn't forget when he said that, even though I knew he was joking, and when the new spring stuff got stocked up I took one of the dresses for myself.

I excitedly dropped my dressing gown to the floor, shimmying it off of my shoulders as it fell down my figure, and stepped into the tight fitting dress. It was snug, but snug enough to highlight possibly all the right features. I stared into the mirror, tracing my hands over the dress as I did.

It was low cut and a little short, so I definitely did look like a slut. But I was only going to have one twenty first birthday, so I thought I may aswell wear whatever the fuck I wanted. Until Noah came into the bedroom.

"That's what your wearing ?" He looked me up and down as if to say he was disgusted.

"Yes I am. With these." I dangled a pair of black heels in-front of him and laughed. Somehow wearing a slutty little dress gave me an unusual amount of confidence.

Noah followed close behind me as I made my way into the living room to put on my jacket, bag and make sure to grab my cigarettes from off of the kitchen counter. He planted himself back on the sofa in his original spot, and was soon reunited with his beer.

"It's five to six now." He pointed at the clock and then looked at me.

"I know Noah." I snapped. I wasn't sure the confidence was benefiting me in any way yet. Luckily enough, before Noah could respond my attention was stolen by the phone suddenly ringing.

I immediately answered it and questioned who was at the other end of the receiver.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Lottieeeee, happy birthday to you." I heard the three instantly recognisable voices of my mum, dad and Emily singing happy birthday to me.

"Haha thanks you guys." I was smiling brightly and was most likely going red, but thankfully my little sister wasn't in the room with me to point it out.

"I'll pop round and see you sometime in the week Lottie, I know your busy with Noah." Emily giggled, earning a gasp from mum and dad. They knew I was with him, but Noah had absolutely zero interest in meeting them.

"Ok sis thanks. I'm gonna have to shoot though I'm going out in about.... thrifty seconds."

"Have a fun night princess. We love you." My parents yelled. I chuckled and continued turning a bright red.

"I love you Tee. Catch you later." Emily added.

"Love you too Sis." I hung up the phone and laughed, but my brief happy moment was soon abruptly ended when I heard John's car outside beeping at me and Noah. I grabbed my bag (and cigarettes since I'd luckily remembered) and followed behind the brunette, also making sure to lock the door on the way out.

We hurriedly walked down the stairs and got into the car, me in the front and Noah in the back next to what looked like Deakys amp.

"Happy birthday Tee." John leaned over and hugged my slightly, both of us trying to fight off the seatbelts pulling us back.

"Thank you." We exchanged a genuine smile as John began driving towards the guitarists house.

"You look great by the way. Oh and don't worry, I've got you something it's just in the boot." I turned to look at Noah, who rolled his eyes at me and then began staring at the streets of London through the car window.

"Oh thank you so much. You didn't have to."

"Of course I did ! It's your birthday Tee."

An- thank you for reading :)
