25th August 1978
An- this chapter is gonna be a little more lengthy than others- but I didn't wanna split it into two parts. Also- I've never written something like this before so I doubt it's very accurate
"Mummy... mummy it's morning now." I woke up to Emily using all the strength in her tiny little arms to try and wake me up.
"I'm up darling... I'm up." I sat up laughing, tiredly rubbing my eyes as they adjusted to the light shining through the hotel window. Emily jumped into my lap, a bright smile on her face as she did. I smiled down at her and gently brushed a stray piece of her long blonde hair out of her face.
"Where's daddy ?" She looked around the hotel room and then back up at me, curious to where her dad had disappeared to. She'd been the one to sleep next to me in bed rather than Roger, for a reason we were both very, very excited for.
"He's in the room next to ours baby- but you can't go in there I'm afraid." She raised one eyebrow and looked up again, more confusion piling around the simple question.
"Why ?"
"Because Mummy and Daddy are getting married."
It had been what felt like decades since Roger had asked me to be his wife, and now over two years later we were both in separate hotel rooms rattled with nerves as the hours counting down to the moment we finally tied the knot became fewer.
Emily was now around two and a half, toddling everywhere and chatting away. She wasn't one bit shy, she was confident just like her dad was. And very stubborn- but that was a trait she was bound to have if she had me and Roger as parents. She was an angel really, a perfect little girl raised in a slightly crazy family full of famous rockstars. Me and Roger didn't realise how lucky we were to have her.
The wedding was small, not a huge day that everyone was invited to, but big enough for me and him. He was hugely famous now, in fact me and Emily were recognised by a fans on a few occasions. Queen were one of the biggest bands going, and I'd never been so proud of all of them.
The wedding of course consisted of friends and family, but my parents had decided it was best they didn't attend for a reason I wasn't hugely sure of. They'd moved out to the county, far enough away to say they had to travel too far to miss their own daughters wedding, but I wasn't massively shocked. The only thing I was missing was a dad to walk me down the isle.
"Lottie Nicks... soon to be Lottie Taylor within the next few hours !" Veronica swung the door to mine and Emily's room open, Mary, Chrissie and Robert all flooding in behind her carrying their dresses (and the one suit) and stacks of makeup.
"Morning gorgeous." Chrissie ruffled Emily's hair as she and Robert both dived onto the bed and started tickling one another.
"No flirting you two... you've got to help aunty Lotts get ready." Ronnie scooped up Robert and dumped him in her lap, watching with a bright smile as Mary plonked me down on the bed and started rummaging through her bags of god knows what.
"Mummy- I'm hungry." Emily sighed. I tutted and turned to face her, trying not to laugh at her sulk. Ronnie laughed and rummaged through her bag, pulling out snacks for the two excited toddlers.
"Oh you're a fucking gem Ronnie."
"Mummy !" Emily exclaimed, a hand over her little job as she pointed at me.
"Oh sugar. My bad." I laughed, turning red as my little girl giggled.
"I know I am. What would you do without your made of honour hey ?" Ronnie smiled. Maid of honour had been a tough choice to make, just as hard as it was for Roger to choose a best man. But I remembered how much I'd been through with her since she met John at one of Freddie's great parties back in the early 70s. She really was my best friend in all honesty.
