nitta akari was stumped.

just a few minutes ago, she was enjoying a hot chocolate in a cafe amidst the chilly weather, enjoying her day off that came by only twice a week - on wednesday and saturday. it was just one of those days where she was allowed to slack off, and didn't have to receive any tasks from the jujutsu high school.

so why was she standing outside of ieiri shoko's office right now?!

she sipped her second hot chocolate as her eyes stared in front of her, blank of any emotion. perhaps she didn't even notice how her tongue burned from the hot temperature of the drink.

ohashi ayame and hakari kinji sat on the bench right next to her, both having their arms crossed over their chests as if they were mirrors. they all sat (and stood) in silence, the only thing they could hear was the distant sounds of car engines and leaves rustling.

"um, nitta-san," ayame was the first to break the silence. "is... uh, is the hot chocolate to your liking?"

"ah. yes. thank you." akari replied almost instantly, as if it was second nature.

"oh. i see."

...

ayame was dying inside by how awkward the silence was. she glanced to her left, and looked at kinji. he didn't seem to care about it. she huffed, before leaning back into the wall, crossing her arms even higher than before.

"hey," kinji whispered, glancing around for who knows what. "you... did you think this was a good idea?"

ayame shrugged. "it's too late for that now."

"we could've just sent him to a hospital instead."

"i... know, but - " ayame buried her face in her hands, gritting her teeth. she internally smacked her head against a wall as her spirits' voices echoed in her mind. "ugh. i don't know. i don't know anymore."

"you two look gloomy."

the two first years snapped their heads towards the owner of the voice. yasuhiro stood in front of them, his bag over his shoulder as always. his face was filled with confusion seeing how the mood was... so down, especially when kinji was there as well.

"takayuki-senpai."

"senpai, what are you doing here?"

yasuhiro handed his bag to kinji, who took it quietly. "ieiri-san called me here to check up on someone. i heard you two brought in a patient...?"

the two glanced at each other, before coughing simultaneously.

"uh, yes. uhhh we, uh - "

"there you are, takayuki." they turned towards the door, and saw shoko's head peeking out of it. her eye bags look heavy as usual, and ayame felt a pang of guilt in her heart. shoko glanced at yasuhiro, before looking at the other three people who were present. "you can come in too, i'll let you have a look."

"ah, yes."

"i'll stay out here." nitta akari said, her eyes are still the same as a void. "you better explain after this, ohashi-chan."

ayame nodded rapidly before speeding away into shoko's office, kinji following close behind.

inside, it seemed like a normal school nurse room, if you ignored the suspicious jars on the table and an ash tray overflowing with cigarette butts. they all went to the only bed that was occupied, and shoko made way for yasuhiro to stand right beside sora's bed.

"he seems fine, but check him just in case, takayuki."

yasuhiro was about to roll his sleeves up, when he caught sight of the sleeping male's face. his hands paused as he slightly leaned over, examining the familiar face with a raised brow.
