"We're going on a trip, in our favorite rocket ship, ZOOMING THROOOUUGH THE SKY," Maddie sings as she dances through the airport. Mia and I look at each other and I can just see that we're both thinking of running off and pretending we don't know the grownup baby.
"Calm down Little Einstein," I laugh while Mia holds her down by the shoulders.
"What? I'm just excited!" she says, readjusting her bag on her shoulder. "I've always wanted to see Niagara Falls. And I've missed Darren like crazy, I wanna hear about his relationship, and I wanna talk about our relationships with him and ARHHH! I'm so excited! And I just can't hide it!"
"Okay, Mads, you really need to calm down or else they're going to think you're on something and not let you on the plane," I tell her, dragging my probably too big and overpacked suitcase to the check in.
"Oh shut up," Maddie says, tugging her beanie a bit more down over her head. It was weird, I had checked, and it was going to be warm (or warmer) at Niagara Falls although it was more north. "There is nothing wrong about being excited about going on a trip with your best friends. It's a good way of getting my mind off of Luke, too."
"I know how you feel. But this is the perfect opportunity, as you said, to talk about each other's relationships. We haven't even really talked about you and Dylan!" I say, turning to Mia.
"Well, we did rent that apartment, so we can have privacy," Maddie smiles, taking a hand through her hair. We get checked in, a few people around JFK recognizing us, or at least Maddie and I. They probably thought we were going to visit the guys, which made my heart fall a bit, because I also missed him a lot. But I felt like we needed this girl's trip. We hadn't really had the chance to go somewhere together like this, with Maddie getting her job, and my job, and enjoying the company of our boyfriends while we could.
.
.
"Oh my god, this place is amazing!" We hadn't even been anywhere special yet, about a two hours drive from Niagara Fall, and Maddie was already overexcited.
"Maddie, you need to relax," I tell her, as I literally hold her down in her seat. She pouts, blowing some hair out of her face. Mia is currently driving us, Maddie sitting shotgun, me sitting behind her.
"I'm just excited," she says. "Is that so wrong? IS IT SO WRONG!? THAT YOU MAKE ME STRONG!" I swear, this girl is going to be the end of my hearing.
"If you had a movie made of you, it would be a musical," Mia laughs, looking at the road.
"I'm pretty sure it would be a fanfic," she laughs, smiling as she looks at her phone. I see that she was texting Luke, leaning back. I wanted to take her phone away, saying this was a girl trip, but I also knew we would have to take any moment we could with them, even if it was just five minutes of texting.
My own phone was dead, so that was why I wasn't talking to Michael right now. I bite my lip, about to say something, when it's like Maddie reads my mind. "Michael asks why you're not responding to his texts," Maddie asks, looking back at me.
"My phone's dead. Tell him I love him."
"Luke or Michael?" Maddie jokes, me rolling my eyes, leaning my head on Maddie's seat.
"Luke, of course," I say sarcastically. She laughs, and I see her typing in to tell Luke to say to Michael that I love him. She then grabs her bag, digging down and finding All Time Low's Don't Panic CD, putting it in the car. "So, is Darren going to join us in Niagara Falls, or when we go to Chicago?"
"Uhmm, I'm pretty sure he's joining us by Niagara Falls," Maddie tells me as she turns the volume up a bit louder, but not too loud. We still wanted to have a conversation, plus Mia doesn't like to drive with too much noise.
