Skylar's POV
I took a deep breath and hit the buttons on my phone. Then I turned the speakerphone on.
Harry and Sierra had gone off the bus for the day, and Zayn was officially on our side.
"Hello?" someone's voice crackled over through the phone. "Who is it? Do you know what time it is here?"
I instantly felt guilty; I hadn't thought about the time difference in Australia at all. "Carter, I'm sorry, but this is somewhat of an emergency."
Carter was my brother, who was currently studying to become a marine biologist in Australia.
Carter sounded more alert but still wary when he spoke next. "What defines this emergency, Sky?"
Everyone but Niall and Ashlyn were looking at me curiously.
I quickly filled him in on the Sierra issue.
There was silence on the phone when I was done. "Well?" I asked.
"You, little sister, have gotten yourself into a heck of a mess," he said, chuckling. "Why don't you just leave and head back to Oxford?"
"Because I'm not leaving my friends in this situation," I said firmly.
"It sounds to me like you need to get rid of her, otherwise you guys might not last," he said.
"Tell me about it," Ashlyn groaned from Liam's computer monitor. We were Skyping her because she wanted to help us get rid of Sierra. "Hey, Carter."
"Who's that?" Carter asked curiously.
"Ashlyn," I said.
"Oh, hey Ash," he said.
"Hey," she said back.
"Did you ever date a girl like her?" I asked.
Carter laughed bitterly. "Only once every 2 years. Or months."
"And how did you get rid of them?" Niall asked.
"I don't know who just said that, but let me tell you something. There's nothing you guys can do to get her to leave. Only the girl's boyfriend can do that, because he has more power over her."
"It seems like she has more power over him," Liam remarked.
"It always seems like that," Carter said wisely. "Take it from a guy who's in your friend's place right now, he has no idea how badly she's treating you. So prove her behaviour to him, but not in front of her. You can't get rid of her, but once he believes you, she'll be gone faster than you can say leave."
We thought about it. "But we don't have records of how she's been treating us," Louis pointed out.
"We have the texts," I said.
"True," Eleanor said. "But not the conversation that happened when the boys were out and it was just the girls on board."
Everyone fell silent.
"What does the boy think of all of this?" Carter asked curiously.
"He thinks that Sierra is the best thing to ever happen to him," Louis sighed. "He thinks he's in love."
"That's not good," Carter remarked.
"Car," I said. "How did your friends tell you the girl you were dating was no good?"
"They didn't," Carter admitted. "They just stopped talking to me. Stopped hanging out with me and stuff. I got the message pretty clear that something was wrong. When I cornered one of them, he asked me to ask her what was going on."
