Ashlyn's POV
Where was I? I blinked six, seven, maybe eight times as I adjusted slowly to the bright lights and white, well, everything.
Then I saw a pair of concerned blue eyes, no, make that two pairs of blue eyes, along with one pair of familiar brown eyes.
"Sky?" I croaked. "Niall? Liam?"
The look on Skylar's face was so evident: relief. "I'm glad you're all right, Ash."
"Me too," Niall said.
Liam leaned in and kissed my forehead. "I'm so sorry, love."
I sighed. "I'm sorry too." I looked around. "Where's everyone else?"
"In the waiting room," Keaton replied from the foot of my bed.
"Can you get Drew?" I asked. "I want to tell him something."
Liam looked hurt.
"You're staying here, LiLi," I told him. "Sky?"
"I'll get him," she said. "But be warned, the rest of them might come barging in as well."
"We'll handle 'em," Niall and Keaton said instantaneously and followed her out.
A few minutes passed.
Liam held my hand. "I thought you were gone," he murmured.
I smiled ruefully. "Well, I'm still here."
"God dammit, Ash, please don't ever do it again," he mumbled. "I can't lose you."
I flushed with happiness. "And I'm sorry for not telling you about--"
I didn't finish my sentence as Drew walked in.
He spotted me and rushed over. "Ash!" he crooned.
I tried to flinch away, but seeing as I was hooked up to a whole bunch of wires, it was nearly impossible. "Stop," I snapped.
Drew backed away. "What?"
"I'm sorry," I sighed. "But... I don't think it's working out."
Drew blanched. Then he gazed at Liam, who was holding my hand.
"This is because of him, isn't it," he said spitefully.
"Yes, and I made a huge mistake going out with you when I belong with him," I told him.
Liam squeezed my hand.
Drew snarled at Liam, "Don't think this isn't over, Payne."
"Wouldn't dream of it, Chadwick," Liam snapped back. "Now, back away from her before you get hurt."
"I'd like to see you try," Drew retorted, and they launched themselves at each other.
"GUYS!" I shrieked, to no avail.
Unfortunately, there were no nurses, and I couldn't press the call for help button.
The door slammed open.
"Help me," I screamed, spotting the entire gang crowded by the door.
Louis and Harry launched themselves at Liam, pulling him off of Drew, who was getting badly beaten up, despite having the upper hand with all that muscle.
As they were helping Liam up, Drew ran at Liam, only to get stopped by Wes and Keaton.
"Stop," I said, starting to cry.
I couldn't help it, they were fighting, not over me.
But because of me.
What kind of burden was that?
