Chapter 5: Midnight Walk

'y/n you parents would be very busy right now with summer sales and all that, I don't think you should go see them this month' Niki exclaims in an odd shakey tone when I tell her I'm going to visit my parents.
I wasn't going to actually visit them, I was going to try to find him. I had no reason to but I just knew I had to see him again. Niki was acting unusual, however. Her usual straight posture was bent and she looked at me with a crazed worried look in her eyes.

'Niki, what's going on? Why are you acting differently?' she immediately stops.
She straightens her posture, tenses her face, and gives me a big smile.

'Nothing's wrong love I just believe your parents wouldn't be around a lot at this moment in time'

'Then ill help them out' I say watching a quick panicked look flash In her eyes.

'Okay Niki, what the fuck is going on, your protesting to me visiting my parents, your acting all strange and now you pretend nothing is wrong?!' I nearly scream the words out. I was worried for Niki, what did she know that I didn't?

She starts to tear up and fall back into her earlier hunched position.

'Oh no Niki I'm sorry was that too loud?' she was used to me shouting but she always hated loud noises so I never shouted too loudly.

'No-no, you didn't do anything wrong y/n' she says forcing a small smile

'Sweetie it's about your parents, they've been in locked-in syndrome for around 6 months and still haven't woken up. I and dad were afraid to tell you because we knew you were sensitive to people you care about being hurt and... And' she repeated through tears not being able to get her words through.

'I know Niki I know' I say as she looks up confused.

'Niki it's been 8 months, 23 days, and 4 hours since they became locked in, I was there, sweetheart, I've known all along' I say hugging her to hide my tears.
We both cried into one another's shoulders in a comfortable silence that felt like forever. As we let go we smiled.

'Why didn't you tell me?' she asked

'Remember the time I was cooped up in my room for 2 months? Yeah, I couldn't bring myself to look at anyone or even speak to anyone. I was so hurt that I ate any uncooked food I could find, portions of pasta and corncobs. I was so devasted and I knew you thought of them as your aunt and uncle so I didn't say anything because I knew it would hurt you too. '

' I guess we're both a little too caring' she chuckles

'Yeah,' I say let it fade into a comfortable silence.

'So where we're you going if not to your parents?' she asked

I froze 'Uhhhh...'

'y/n.'

'TofindTechnoblade' I mumble quickly

'What?'

I sigh 'To find Technoblade, the red-caped knight'

'You know his name? Oooo' she says smiling

Blushing, I look away 'it's not like that'

'OK well it's getting late, we should get some sleep'

'OK, see you tomorrow'

This chapter was a little hard to think of because I didn't want to get the story moving to fast. I hope it's good!
