I gulped. Those words were never good. Did she think that I was stealing her girlfriend? Because I wasn't.
I mean, sure I liked her and had feelings for her but I would never act upon them. That's a direct violation of the girl code that I'm sure is out there somewhere.
Girls never steal other girls' girlfriends. Or boyfriends.
Well, you're not supposed to. If you do, you're a thoughtless person. I think?
I don't really know. I don't stay up to date with the newest insults.
"Hello?" Meg waved her hand in front of my face, snapping me out of my thoughts and making me say, "What?"
"I said that we needed to talk."
"Oh, yeah." I glanced back at Miracle's door.
"Where's a, um, more private place?" She asked which made me lead her to my room.
Shutting the door to ensure that our conversation stayed private, I mentally prepared myself to be accused and yelled at. However, I didn't get that.
Instead, she pointed to my bed and asked, "Can I sit here?"
"Um, yeah. Sure." I replied, a bit confused. Wouldn't you want to be standing if you were going to yell at someone so you could... I don't know, get all in their face or something?
"So," I dragged that word out a bit. "What'd you want to talk with me about?" I asked nervously.
"Okay. A bit of a warning but I'm terrible at this stuff..."
"You want me to back off from your girlfriend." I interrupted, wanting to get this over with as soon as possible.
"What? What are you talking about?" She asked, completely confused. "I don't have a girlfriend."
It was my turn to be confused. "What do you mean? Isn't Miracle your girlfriend?" I asked.
This took a moment to sink into her.
Immediately, her confused look cleared into a look of figuring something out.
"Oh! You thought - you thought that Miracle and I were together?" She realized something and laughed. "And you thought that I was talking to you to back away from Miracle. Oh my gosh, you must've been scared stiff!" She gave me a sympathetic look.
I shifted, uncomfortable.
"Nah, hon. Miracle broke up with her bitch of a girlfriend a little bit ago."
Oh, yeah. She mentioned that the first day she stayed with us.
You see, the thing is that I kinda was half listening to her story. I know that's a terrible thing but I was kinda tired. I hadn't gotten the greatest night's sleep that night.
"Honestly though," The violet eyed girl continued. "That girl was so annoying and poor Miracle was trying to make her happy constantly. I almost cheered when she told me that she broke up with her. Anyways, we're getting off topic but first could you sit down or something? I feel so bad for sitting while you're still standing."
I carefully sat down on the floor, my legs crossed against each other.
"Thanks." She smiled at me and then quickly changed it to a more serious expression. "As her best friend, I am obligated to give this speech to you - which I probably should've done to the other girl - but know that I mean it." She took a deep breath, pausing to collect her thoughts, I'm assuming, She soon continued. "If you hurt Miracle in any way, I'm going to hunt you down and kick your ass, understand?"
I nodded, knowing that Meg meant exactly what she said. After all, as kids we would tackle each other.
"Good." She grinned. "Now, we need to get you two together."
"What?"
"I said that we need to get you two together. Seriously, Christmas, you need to listen." She sighed.
"No, I heard what you said. I'm just confused."
"Why? It's obvious that you two like each other. I mean, come on." She gave me a look and started ticking things off. "I heard from Jules that you showed Miracle your spot with all the beanbags-"
I interrupted her. "Everyone knows where that is." I told her.
She shrugged. "I'm not done. As I was saying, you flirt with her a ridiculous amount for someone who 'doesn't like her', you took her back to your house when she was drunk when you could've just let me take care of her and then you stayed behind with her."
I defended myself directly after that, saying that I physically wasn't able to and that I had tried one time before that but Meg wouldn't have any of it and just rolled her eyes.
"Please. If you're anything like you used to be- which from what I've seen so far, you are - you would've figured out a way if you really wanted to." She pointed out.
I opened my mouth to argue but shut it when no argument came out.
"Uh-huh. Exactly." She smirked at me. "Besides, are you actually trying to convince me that you don't have feelings for Miracle? Cause you're doing a terrible job."
I sighed and hung my head. "I know."
"So, we need to get you two together."
"'We?' Who's included in this 'we'? And how do you even know that she likes me as much as I do her?" I asked her.
"Yes, 'we'. Noel, Sandy, Jules, and Dot are helping me. Gabe doesn't want to get involved in his older sister's romantic life."
I shrugged. "Sounds like him."
"As for the second part, she's my best friend. I can tell those types of things." She rolled her eyes. "Most of the time."
I opened my mouth to protest at that last comment but Meg stopped me.
"But I know about this."
I sighed. "Okay." I said, defeated. "What do I have to do?"
