Miracle

I glanced around the building I was in. It was an Emergency Care except without the known name and seemed to fit right into the small town feel of - well - the small town.

I stopped looking around and went back to the game on my phone. Gardenscape, I think, is what it was called. I didn't really care what the name of it was, only that it was actually pretty fun and gave me something to do while I was waiting to be called on.

The Ziploc bag of ice on my wrist crinkled, reminding me it was there.

"There was, like, five moves you could have made that would have been better than the one you just made." The blonde who was next to me told me.

I glanced over at her and gave her a look that said that I didn't really care.

She shrugged. "Just sayin'."

"Look," I started, sighing. "I'm sorry I hit your car but you really don't need to stay here while I wait to get looked at." I told her for the third time.

Yeah, I might have accidentally hit her car. I'll explain later.

She shook her head. "My mom would literally have my head if she knew I didn't. And she seems to know everything." She gave me a variant of what she had said the other two times.

I sighed. "Whatever."

We stayed like this while another thirty minutes until they called my name.

"Miracle Winters?" A person asked for me.

I stood up and followed them into a room to get looked at.

After a complete examination, it was determined that I only had a minor sprain in my right wrist. Thankfully, that wasn't my dominant hand.

After getting a brace and ditching the bag of half-melted ice in a trash can, I went back to the waiting room.

Waiting for me was the blonde girl from before. Currently she was on the phone and her green eyes showed some annoyance as she talked to whoever she was on the phone with.

As I stopped in front of her, she ended the call and stood up.

"Your car is going to take a while to be fixed, considering you ran into a light post." She told me. "What did the doctor say?" She asked, noticing my brace.

"Minor sprain. Nothing I can't handle."

She nodded and started walking towards the door. "You're coming with me." She said over her shoulder.

I raised an eyebrow at her, not moving from my original spot. "And how do I know you're not just going to kidnap me?" I asked her.

She stopped and turned around, giving me a look. "Yes, because you're exactly the type of person I want to kidnap." She said sarcastically to me.

I frowned. "And what is the type of person you'd want to kidnap?"

"Not you, that's for sure." She turned back around. "It's a small town, people would definitely notice if I kidnapped you. Also, my mom told me to bring you with me. We have a guest room you can use."

"And how do you know that I don't have someplace to stay?" I asked her although I didn't, in fact, have a place to stay.

"You are loud when you're upset and talk to yourself about what's wrong in your life after you get in a car wreck." Her tone sounded somewhat amused.

My cheeks warmed. I hadn't realized she heard my rant to myself.

"Fine." I sighed. "I'm coming."

"Great. My mom makes the best hot chocolate in town." She paused. "But then again, Champierce is a small town."

I grinned at her last comment and followed her out the door and to her truck which was headed for her house.
