Chapter 23

A/N> The fact that it's been 2 years since I created this story and it's still not done is hilarious.

        A few more days of waiting and catching up on life, Gaara was released from the hospital.

        Of course, Lee left a few things out because he didn't see them fit to be talked about. Gaara didn't notice so it seemed fine. Lee was just relieved that their relationship didn't go to waste.

        Life without Gaara was like a dark room with nothing in it. Like an Earth without a moon. Like a night sky without stars. Lee didn't worry much, but when Gaara wouldn't wake up, he was more scared than he had ever been.

        Lee knew now more than ever; He was never going to let Gaara go. If he did, who knows what would happen. Lee couldn't even imagine a world without Gaara in it!

        "Gaara, what do you plan on doing after college?" Lee asked, a solemn look falling over his complexion.

        Gaara looked at Lee quizzically, and then looked at the ground.

        "I'm not sure. I haven't put any thought into that. I'm more focused on finishing college." Gaara explained, pulling out his phone after feeling it vibrate in his pocket.

        "Gaara-"

        "I apologize, but I must take my leave now. My brother is coming to get me," Gaara muttered, cutting Lee off, "Goodbye."

        ".... Eh?"

        Lee slowly deleted the text.

        "Naruto... What if Gaara leaves me? :(" Lee asked, moving to the floor in front of the couch and getting ready to do push-ups.

        "Big Brow, trust me. That guy ain't going anywhere. He likes you! And you like him, don't you?" Naruto said, smashing a button repeatedly on the Xbox controller he was holding.

         "Yes... But I am still worried! What if Kankuro takes him away..." Lee began counting in his head as he did push-ups.

        Naruto began talking in a high-pitched voice, as if mimicking a woman, "Come on, Lee. You're a hunk, who wouldn't want to date you."

        "Please do not talk in that voice. 🥲" Lee said, his counting already getting in the 40s.

        "Whatevs," Naruto muttered, flicking his wrist, "If he leaves then I'll track him down, shawty. Anything for you."

        "Thank... you?" Lee muttered.

Ding

        "You gots a notification, Big Brow 😮." Naruto said, picking up Lee's phone and reading the message.

        "Naruto,  I would like my phone back, please," Lee said, getting up and reaching for it.

        Naruto pulled away and stared at the phone wide-eyed, "So... Big Brow, I don't think you wanna read the message, so I'll just .."

        Lee grabs the phone and reads the message.

       ".... Ah. I see."

       "Hey- Big Brows, don't do anythin drastic, alright? He'll be back. I think. It'll be fine." Naruto sweated.

        "Yeah. I am calm, Naruto. I do not know what you are talking about." Lee muttered, going to his recent calls and ringing Gaara up.

        "... 𝙷𝚎𝚕𝚕𝚘?" Gaara's voice rang through the phone.

        "Big Brows.... Don't do anything you'll regret." Naruto said, smiling nervously.

       "So you have your big brother text me instead of telling me yourself? Gaara..." Lee muttered sadly.

        "...𝚂𝚘𝚛𝚛𝚢." Gaara said, hanging up.

        Lee brought the phone to his lap and stared into space for a second. Naruto waved his hand in front of Lee's face.

        "Big Brow...?"

        ".... I am going out, Naruto. Do not expect me to be back for a while." Lee said, leaving with his half-charged phone.
