She's pissed. She found out... I just know it. I heard some of the rumors going on in the bus, and I knew Avery was only a secret spilling, gossipy girl away from finding out what happened. I dialed her number for the billionth time, waiting for her calm voice to answer. The first time I called, I got forwarded to voice mail.

“ Damn!” I cursed under my breath.

“ Something got you down, Romeo?” Timothy called to me.

“ Shut up. You don't even know my side of the story.” I just figured he knew along with probably everyone else.

“ Hey, no need to get snappy at me. I didn't just ruin yet another relationship with an amazing girl.

“He was talking to me like he had read my life story over and over again.

“ I didn't-” I knew I was only lying to myself. I cheated on my best friend with my ex, and I didn't even have a reason.

“ Look, I know I screwed up, and I already feel like shit about it. Give me a break?” I pleaded. He looked like a cat with it's next meal staring back at it from across the room.

“ Sorry... I wasn't trying to be a jerk. It just pisses me off... You get a perfect girl like Avery, then just let her go, but for what?” Something in my mind clicked at the exact moment I bolted up and headed for the third floor. The elevator decided to piss me off and take forever, so when it finally arrived, I shoved the doors open and flew inside, scaring a few other people. I slammed the 3 button before anyone had the chance to press anything. One lady reached for the buttons, but I insisted on my case being an emergency.

I tapped my fingers the whole way down the two floors. That was the longest ride of my life... When the doors slid open, I was the first to leave, pushing my way past a mom with her son holding her hand.

“ Sorry!” I called back, turning my head. I was running in the direction of Ave's room, not knowing what was about ti happen. The adrenaline was seeping through my body, giving me a push I needed.

When I stopped in front of her door, I held my hand up to knock, but didn't have the chance. I stepped back as a girl with brown hair stepped out, hesitating at the sight of me. I think her name is Becky? Maybe Becca...

“ Hi there.” I hoped she would invite me in.

“ Uh- Hi.” She wouldn't look at me, giving me the universal picture that she knew exactly who I was.

“ Look, I need to see Avery. It's really important.” I practically begged her to let me in.

“ I uh- She isn't here. She left for breakfast about an hour ago.

“ Okay thanks.” Something about the look in her eyes led me to believe she wasn't telling me the truth.

I headed back towards the elevator anyways, hoping that Becca wouldn't disappoint me. I really needed to see Aves. I really needed Aves.
