Collin wasn't in his seat when I woke up to the flight attendant telling me to buckle up for landing. I looked around, and figured he would be coming any minute, so I buckled up and laid my head against my hand, since Collin refused to let me have window seat. Silly boy... Next time I'll get it. I smiled to myself.
“ Hey” Timothy whispered from the other side of rows. I tried looking for him, but only saw blue and white seats. He popped out from the seat in front of me and smiled like a little kid.
“ Hey” I greeted him, sweetly.
“ Wheres lover boy?”
“ I uh... I have no clue.” I replied, trying not to sound worried.
“ Oh. Well if he isn't back when we land, would you do me the honors of letting me escort you?” He held his arm out like princes do in movies and smiled.
“ Of course.” I said in a proper tone, mocking his silliness.
“ Well then, better buckle up. I'll see you on the other side!” He yelled, getting a few glares, including from Mr. Evens.
Twenty minutes later, and Collin still wasn't back, so I let Tim wrap his arm around mine as we skipped down the isle- wow that was weird to say- and out of the plane singing the whole time.
“ Well, that was fun!” He exclaimed.
“ Haha, yeah. Were you sitting there the whole time?”
“ What, right in front of you? Yeah.” He smirked.
“ You're gonna be my buddy.” I said, patting him on the head like a dog. He smiled and stuck his tongue out like a dog would.
“ I would love to be your buddy!” He said, excitedly.
We made our way to the bus, and I still hadn't seen Collin...
“ Mr. Evens! We're missing a student... or two. You might consider doing a headcount?” He glared at me like Don't-tell-me-how-to-do-my-job!
I shrugged my shoulders and made my way to sit with Tim, since there wasn't any sign of Collin anywhere. Mr. Evens made his way back to the airport lobby and diapered in to a crowd of angry, anxious men and women.
“ No more sleep for me! I've slept basically the whole trip up here.” I said, groggily.
“ Okay. I promise to not let you fall asleep.” He said firmly. He taped me on the cheek repeatedly until I smacked his hand.
“ What are you doing? You know, other than annoying the crap out of me...” I said while trying to dodge his hand.
“ I'm keeping you awake.” He smiled, but eventually stopped hitting me as Mr. Evens walked in with Collin and- Cindy?
My heart stopped as realization crept in to my heart. I tried not to make any conclusions, but that was hard, considering only last year were they sex buddies.
“ What the hell?” I said bewildered.
“ Don't worry about it, Avery.” Timothy calmed me down enough to think straight. Collin and Cindy were forced to sit in the front of the bus, right next to Mr. Evens. I pulled out my laptop and started scrolling through my pictures, given there wasn't any Wi-Fi, to distract me.
There were a bunch of pictures of me an Collin playing as kids, then going to our first dance together as little junior high students. My mind flashed back to that day... It was awkward and I hated it, but I did it, because it was for Collin. I wore my cute pink and black polka dotted dress with my first pair of heels. They were basically wedges, but they were tall. That was my first dance, and at the end of the night, right as his mom pulled into the school parking lot, he kissed me on the cheek. The rest of that week, he didn't talk or even look at me.
