CHAPTER TWO- COLLIN

I looked over to her beautiful ginger curls and was tempted to brush them away from her eyes. Avery has been my best friend ever since fifth grade and I don't plan on losing her anytime soon.

“ So where are we landing in Europe?” I had to pull myself out of my daydream. The sound of her voice filled the car just the way I liked it; sweet, but confident and loud.

“ We're starting in Portugal, then heading to England. After England, we are gonna find out from the tour guide.”

“ Well, look at you all prepared and planned. Wanna come over and help me pack?” Uh, duh. You know, I act like it's no problem hanging out with the girl of my dreams, but I can't help but wonder if she just thinks of me as a weird filler friend.

“ You mean me pack while you watch Full House and bake cookies?” I smiled, thinking of all the other times I had helped her prepare for a trip. It always ended up with us snuggled on the couch watching Tarzan or Wall-E.

Not a few minutes later, I pulled in to her driveway all too slow, not wanting to let her go. When she hopped out of the car and shut the door, I couldn't help myself. I reached over to her door and rolled the lever to open her window.

“ Hey, Avery...” Oh god, what the hell was I doing?

“ Yeah, what is it?” She scrunched up her nose the way she always did when she was thinking about something.

“ I- uh... Night.” Crap. There goes my chance.

“ Night, Collin.” She smiled her beautiful smile and walked away, just what I didn't want her to do.

“ I love you...” I whispered to myself when I heard the garage door shut. Dammit! I was so close...
