Her fear went away, as I sped up to 110mph. A smile planted on her face each time I turned a corner. Driving a car like this without taking it for a joy ride is pretty much frowned upon.
“ So really, where are we going?” She asked with a questionable look on her face.
“ It's a surprise.” I smiled at her annoyed face. She was obviously one of those girls who couldn't stand being in the dark. “ You're about to find out.” I said, to calm her down.
We rounded a few more corners, heading up a mountain. At the top, there was a flat slab of concrete. I parked the car and jogged to Avery's side of the car to open her door.
“ Thanks.” She smiled as I took her hand in mine.
We walked forever in the dark. I knew where I was going, simply because I had been here so many times before.
“ Nobody really comes up here.” I said, looking at her.
“ I bet you bring all of the ladies up here.” She ran her body into mine, giving me a playful shove.
“ You're the first, actually.” I admitted.
“ Are you kidding? This spot would get you anyone you wanted.” She looked out to the sky.
It was pitch black, but you could make out the waves to an ocean. The moonlight shimmered and reflected off of the blue water.
“ Wow-” She cut herself off, obviously taken aback.
“ Right?” I said. I hugged her close to me, bringing in her heat. It wasn't very cold, but it was chilly enough to make me wish I had brought a heavier coat.
“ Here.” I slid my arm out of a sleeve and handed Avery the jacket.
“ Thanks.” She smiled and took the coat. Her hands landed on my chest as she nuzzled closer to me. Her eyes caught mine staring into them.
“ You're extremely breathtaking, you know.” I said with a crack in my voice. She just blushed. “ I mean, seriously. You are the only girl to ever make me feel like this-” I let out a laugh to myself.
“ You're beautiful. You're sweet. You're every guy's dream girl.” Her cheeks were radiating. “ I love how you make me feel. I keep thinking back to the night we met. When I came up to you, I didn't think I stood a chance.” I took her hand and sat down next to a cave opening.
“ I saw you from across the room and just knew I had to have you. Even if it was a one night kind of deal, I needed you. I keep thinking 'why me?' Why was I the one to catch your eye? How on Earth was I possibly lucky enough to get a girl like you?” I stopped myself, wondering if I was making her uncomfortable.
“ Wow...” was all she said. I sat up against the cave wall with her head in my lap. She had my blue jacket spread across her stomach.
“ Are you still cold?” I asked, worried.
“ I'm fine, Ed.” She smiled assuringly.
Her voice was the same as when I first met her. Sweet, caring, sexy...
Her black dress laid on the floor. She was asleep, had been asleep for a while now. Her bare chest rose and fell slowly. She didn't snore, but only made a puffing noise when she exhaled.
“ Avery...” She didn't wake up. She would though. She would wake up in the morning and leave me, just like the rest. I'd be alone again.
“ Avery... Why did you leave that morning?” I asked, unexpectedly.
“ I honestly don't even remember getting home.” She admitted. The pull was here again, begging me to get closer to her. I leaned in and wrapped my arms tight around her stomach.
“ Do you feel it too?” She asked. I just nodded my head and kissed her nose.
“ How can a stranger make me feel like this?” Avery asked, mostly to herself.
“ I don't know and I don't care.” I said before kissing her. She laughed, breaking the kiss. The cave opening was above us, shielding us from the wind. A few minutes had passed before the first raindrop fell.
“ Come on.” I thought of running to the car, but it started pouring, as if there was someone watching and laughing. It came out of nowhere, but I was grateful. This just means that I didn't have to take Avery home soon. I pulled her into the cave, avoiding the down pour. It was freezing, but the cave was warmer than the outside.
“ I think I love you...” Avery whispered. It was so loud with the rain, I barely heard her.
She held her arm in the other, looking down at the ground. I rushed to her and embraced her features. Our lips met, sending a shock to my lips. It was electricity. Every touch was sweet, just like the first time.
