CHAPTER TWENTY- THREE- ED

ED'S POINT OF VIEW!! :)

I sat up slowly, trying not to make my headache any worse. It was faint, but there. The effects of alcohol and drugs took it's toll very nicely last night, and for once, they actually did something good. I remembered every touch, every second of last night. Avery's red hair flowing behind her, down to her back. Her dress was still on the floor, lying right where I threw it. Right now, Avery was sleeping in my Beetle's shirt and a pair of black plaid boxers I lent her. I guessed it was about noon, given that traffic was light because everyone was at work already. I walked back to the bed and laid next to the bump on the other side. I tossed my hair back and shook my head, making the pain come back. That's weird... I should be tolerant by now. I haven't had a hangover this bad since I started drinking.

“ Morning, love.” There wasn't a response, so I poked her. “ What the-” All that was there was a pillow, going long ways, like a body. Maybe she left...

I set my feet on the floor, devastated. I might not ever see her again. I felt the sadness rise within me. I moved my toes on the cold, wooden floor and felt something thin get stuck in between my toes. I squeezed my toes together and picked my foot up, brining the item up to my hands. I grabbed the dress and held it in my hands, remembering last night.

“ Settle down with me...” I sang out. I dropped the dress and ran to my guitar and picked up my songbook. I scribbled down the lyrics and messed with the chords for a while, before remembering that Avery was gone, and only a dress remained on my floor. The sadness came back to me and filled my body with a wave of dark. I needed to find her. Whatever it takes...
