Chapter III

"That pink skirt looks good on you, Miss Charlotte but the ruffles doesn't really suit your style," said the dressmaker as I am now trying my fifteenth dress.

Kaninang umaga pa kami narito and now it's almost one in the afternoon. The seamstress and my mother can not seem to find the perfect dress for my grand engagement party. I was bored of standing and looking at the mirror while wearing dresses I don't even like.

"How about that gown with sapphire ornaments?" tanong ko sa kanilang dalawa habang itinuturo ang isang mahabang damit na nasa loob ng kristal na kahon.

It was hidden on the seamstress' private workroom. Nilingon ito ni Mommy at tahimik itong inilabas ng mananahi.

It was a long, blue dress that would fit perfectly. I think that it would suit my fair complexion and compliment my dark orbs.

"I think that one would be perfect, Greta," ani ng aking ina.

Nakita ko ang pagngiwi ni Greta. "Are you sure, Lady Celeste?"

My mom looked at her and asked "why not?"

"Well, mayroon kasing kwento-kwento tungkol sa damit na iyan. I got that from one of my patron from another town. She told me that the dress is cursed. That's her friend's wedding dress and before that, it was the dress of Lady Antoine of Driscoll and you know what happened to her wedding, right?"

My mother and I nodded our heads. Well the famous Lady Antoine, daughter of the Duke of Driscoll was left broken hearted on the altar by the prince of her dreams. Ang pamilya namin ay imbitado sa pagdiriwang na iyon ngunit sa kasamaang palad ay hindi kami nakadalo. Many people saw how devastated Antoine when Prince Nautilus refused to marry her and left her standing there like an idiot. Of course, the royal family of Waltshire had to pay the Duke's family for the prince's insolence. But the humiliation and pain scarred Lady Antoine forever.

"Both ladies who wore that dress, well, they weren't lucky with their marriages. Besides, I couldn't let Lady Charlotte wear that. Two women already wore that, what she needs is a brand new clothing. I'll find—"

"No!" I cut her off. "I wanted to wear that blue dress," I said softly hiding my smirk.

Curse, please work.

My mother looked at me worriedly. "Are you sure, dear?"

I nodded swiftly. "Yes mother."

I saw a mischievous smirk hiding on her cold facade. What was that all about?

"Then it is set, Greta. You shall send that beautiful dress two days before the party."

The seamstress nodded kahit pa mukhang nag-aalangan ito. My mother and I bid the seamstress goodbye and walked out of the shop with a grace like we always does. We were then greeted by small amount of guards. Ang mga tao ay nakatingin sa amin. We rode a carriage as we went to my mother's usual place.

She owned a café when she was still young but when she married my Dad, she let her business go and became a full time housewife. She just can't get enough of my father.

We entered the small café. Nostalgia welcomed me like an old friend. This is where my mother, Elijah, and I spent our usual afternoon tea when I was still young. But it all changed when my father's business went to a huge immediate success and they built many branches all over the country. My brother was forced to work on his early teenage years. And now, he's twenty-three, a successful entrepreneur, known by many people all over the country and even abroad. Girls swarmed over him not just because of his talent and his money but with his looks as well.
