Chapter VII
I woke up one morning without Kirsten in the house. Well it's normal, she's a busy person. I don't really know what she does for a living, she does many things.
After breakfast, I tried to stroll around the village. Maraming mga bata ang naglalaro sa labas. They have a small rectangular park which they call the Rose Square. Ang sabi sa akin ni Audrey ay dito sila nagdidiriwang ng kanilang festivals and such, and I would be thrilled to attend one.
I was on my way to sit in a small bench under the shade of an alder. When a small and frail child walked passed me.
My eyes widened at kaagad ko itong nilapitan. He's too hot and I didn't know what to do.
A litte girl went to us and told me that I should take the child to the clinic. I agreed with her, feeling panicky.
A nurse greeted us and she immediately attended the sick child. Nanatili kaming tahimik doon ng batang babae.
"Is he gonna be alright?" I asked myself.
"Lois had been sick eversince he was born. Good thing, you saw him earlier, lady," tumango ang batang babae sa akin.
I smiled and sat beside her.
"I can't really say that he's alright but for now, he's stable. Masyadong mataas ang lagnat niya at nanginginig na rin ang kanyang mga kamay but don't worry, I already did something about it," saad ng nurse at bumalik ito sa kanyang tanggapan.
The little girl and I went to Lois’ room. We saw a sleeping frail child, he looks so peaceful while sleeping but I know that he's struggling inside. I touched his forehead, it is hot as the burning embers.
"Thank you for helping us, lady," saad ng batang babae nang nagpaalam na ako sa kaniya.
Audrey told me to meet her at lunch. I didn't want to leave them here all by themselves but the girl assured me that she'll call the nurse once Lois' wakes up.
"You can call me, Charlotte. And don't worry about it, I'll be back later to check on you," I grinned and patted her head.
"My name is Reneé, thank you Ate Charlotte."
"Where have you been?
I have prepared a basket full of our lunch! I'm excited to paint you, Charlotte. You're like a princess! We'll you are, right?" tanong sa akin ni Audrey."My great great grandmother is a princess but I'm not, my father was twentieth in line from the throne but I don't think he wanted to be a royalty, he enjoys travelling around the country more than ruling it," I told her and we started chatting while we were walking across the lavender patch.
"Maybe that's where Elijah got his adventurous spirit. I always see him whenever I went to different places."
"Yes, Elijah loves his freedom and now I know what being free feels like, I'm starting to like it!"
We both laughed and settled on a huge tree near the brook. Audrey said that this is the best setting for her portrait of me. We settled our things. We covered the moist ground with our thick blanket with red and white stripes. We then prepared the lunch Audrey cooked. There were lots of sweets. Jams, honey, cookies, tarts and pies, I was awed. My teeth are not prepared for this.
