Chapter VI
Hindi ko namalayang nakatulog na pala ako. I woke up and saw that it's already one in the afternoon. I saw the time from a small wooden clock that is sitting comfortably at the bedside table. I scanned the room and I remembered that I am not in my room in our mansion, instead I'm in a cottage in a small fairy tale village.
I changed the old robes Kirsten gave me and I wore a long purple dress and I saw a woman's sandal with straps so I wore it. Hindi naman siguro magagalit si Kirsten kapag hiniram ko ang gamit niya. She willingly accepted me to live in her house.
Bumaba ako sa maliit na hagdan ng cottage at pumunta sa kusina dahil alam kong nandoon si Kirsten but I was shocked when I didn't saw her there.
"Kirsten?!"
She answered from outside so I went to her backyard garden where I saw her getting some worms out of a wooden pail. I felt nauseous all of the sudden.
"What is that?" I blurted out.
"I'm breeding worms," she simply answered.
Lumapit ako ngunit nagbigay ako ng malaking espasyo sa pagitan namin ng balde na puno ng bulati.
"They make the soil rich and healthy. These worms are good for our produce."
I grimaced, I don't really like gardening, it's dirty. I'm excited about one thing and that isn't about the earthworms.
"Aren't we going to have tea with your friends today, Kirsten?" excited kong tanong.
She told me that her friends are excited to meet me. And I'm excited to have some tea. I miss my Mom and our daily tea sessions.
Mukhang naalala niya rin ang ipinangako niya sa akin kung kaya't tumayo siya at iniwan na ang mga bulati. She went inside the house to change her clothes, ako naman ay naisipan kong sa front porch ko na lamang siya hihintayin.
I was fazed by these colorful flowers. It's like they're bewitching me to pluck each of them. I touched the huge white rose and caressed its soft petals. I was humming while admiring its beauty and so I didn't notice a figure coming inside the small gate.
"Kirsten? Is that you?"
I turned to my back and saw a charming fellow. My heart skipped a beat when my dark orbs locked with his green ones. Is this one of Kirsten's friends? I have never seen such beauty coming from a man. My royal bloodline is shaking!
Pilit itong ngumiti at napakamot sa kanyang batok. "I'm sorry, akala ko ikaw si Kirsten. Are you new here?" tanong nito sa isang mababang boses. Even his voice speaks perfection!
"Nasa loob si Kirsten," I tried to sound casual and I almost failed! His beauty is such a distraction. Kaya ko siyang pagmasdan buong araw.
The guy grinned and our eyes never left each other. The air felt warm and the surrounding suddenly went into a blur. The time stopped and it felt like we're the only person in the earth. I took a step closer to him, I am mesmerized by this man.
"Are you alright, Charlotte?" asked Kirsten beside me.
Napatalon ako sa gulat nang makita siya sa kanyang kinatatayuan. When did she get here? Nakaramdam naman ako ng hiya nang mapabaling ako sa lalaki, binigyan niya ako ng isang maliit na ngiti bago tumuon ang mga mata kay Kirsten.
"Pasensya ka na, ito lang ang nakuha ko ngayon. Kailangan kasing maaga akong umuwi kasi may sakit si Lois," paumanhin ng lalaki at may ibinigay kay Kirsten.
Napatingin ako sa isang bayong na mayroong malalaking isda. I then noticed that the guy's lower body is dripping wet. Siguro ay siya ang nanguha nito. Is he a fisherman?
