Chapter XI
Tawanan sa ilalim ng rumasagasang tubig ng talon ang maririnig sa buong paligid. Ang mga kaibigan ni Audrey ay nagsasaya sa likurang bahagi ng talon kung saan sila nakahanap ng maliit na kuweba.
"Let's explore the cave, Charlotte," pag-aanyaya sa akin ni Aurelia.
I wasn't really used to walking in sharp path like this. Puno ng matutulis na bato ang kuwebang iyon. Dahan-dahan ang aking paggalaw dahil baka matusok ako. I don't want to have a single scratch on my skin. The smallest wound can be painful.
We reached the end of the cave and we found nothing, just a group of bats hanging on the cave walls.
"Let's go back, there's nothing here," saad ni Bella kung kaya't dahan-dahan kaming lumabas sa kuweba.
We just wasted our time.
"Where have you been? Kanina ko pa kayo tinatawag," that was Audrey.
Oo nga pala, nagpaalam siyang magbibihis kanina. We've forgotten her.
"We're just looking around. Wala rin namang naroon. Let's just enjoy ourselves!"
Bella and Aurelia went to deeper part of the water. Hindi ako sumunod dahil hindi ako gaanon kagaling sa paglangoy. That crystal clear water creeps me out.
"Did you find anything on the wall?" Audrey asked now sipping on a glass that she's holding.
The fruitshake that I made earlier. She spreads her arms and tosses a glass of fruitshake to me. Tumabi ako sa kanya at sabay naming pinanood ang pag-agos ng talon. Malakas ang pagbagsak nito sa ibaba. Even though the water is roaring not far from us, I can still clearly hear every words Audrey was talking about.
"Let's go back inside that cave, I want to show you something," ani nito.
We left our glasses and went back to the water. The girls never noticed us, they were busy trying to get to the bottom of the water. Muli ay pumasok kaming dalawa ni Audrey sa kuweba. The only light we have was the light coming from the entrance. Muli ay dahan-dahan ang aming paglakad dahil sa madulas na mga bato.
When we reached that huge wall of rock again, pumunta si Audrey sa gilid at may itinulak doon. Seconds later, the ground shook and a small opening can be seen on the floor of the cave. There's a small staircase that leads down below.
Naunang bumaba si Audrey at ako ay sumunod. When we reached the end of the steps, complete darkness greeted us. It's only for a while though because Audrey pulled something, I think it's the lever for the light switch. Brightness covered the whole room and I was amazed by what I saw. A huge library!
Mas malaki pa ito sa library sa aming mansiyon. It was as huge as the archive in the royal palace. Huge shelves that was placed like a maze. I'll be lost if I'll wander deeper.
"I didn't know you have a place like this in here," I uttered.
Audrey laughed. "This is the place where we hang out. Penny built this for our little society."
Naglakad siya patungo sa gitna ng malataas na shelf. She then turned right, then left, right and right again. We stopped on what I think the middle of the maze of bookshelves.
There's a small podium. A wooden circular table was at the center and there were five chairs behind the table.
"This was our little office back then. We use to play here, I was their pupil, their protege. I was the youngest at ako na lamang ang natira upang bumisita sa lugar na ito," Audrey's voice quivered.
Nanatili lamang akong tahimik sa kanyang likuran at pinagmamasdan ang mga kahoy na upuan.
Five chairs are behind the long circular table. Every chair has its own designated name.
Rebekah, Victoria, Agathe and Cordelia.
