JEMA'S POV

Nagising ako ng may kumakatok sa pinto.

Sino kaya to?

When I opened my eyes, wala na si Deanna sa tabi ko.

Hubo't hubad parin pala ako kaya dali dali akong nag bihis at binuksan ang pinto.

She was the last person I was expecting to see.

I tried to fix my hair with my hands para kahit papano di ako mag mukhang aswang.

"Lexie? Hi, how are you? Napa aga ata balik mo." I said at nag beso kami.

Oh my god! Is she really here? I can't believe this.

"I told you I'd see you again...no matter what it takes. You don't look too happy to see me." she said earnestly while brushing my upper arm.

"Huh? Uhhh of course...of course I'm happy. It's just...I didn't expect to see you back so soon" I was grasping for words. Careful not to give her the wrong signals.

"Me either but here I am." She said with a smile then she handed me an envelope.

"I just wanted to give you this in person. I really hope you will consider Jema. This is a very good opportunity and it wasn't easy to get the admission."

Sinilip ko ang loob nito. It was an admission form for the 6-month volunteer work dun sa marine reserve na sinabi nya before.

I didn't mind it that time kasi isang beses lang naman namin napag usapan yon. I didn't think she would take it seriously.

"Thanks lex" I said reluctantly.

May narinig naman akon tumikhim.

Oh no.

Si Deanna.

"Oh..ah Deanna naka balik kana pala." I said awkwardly.

I shifted from one foot to the other. I feel so uncomfortable.

"Uhm Deanna si Lexie. Lexie this is Deanna my...uhm" Natigilan ako.

Ano nga ba? Di pa naman kami nag usap tungkol jan. My mind was in shambles and it didn't help that Deanna was giving me a death glare.

"Nice to meet you!" Hay buti nalang nagsalita si Lexie.

"Deanna." Deanna said dismissively but still shook Lexie's hand.

This is one of the most awkward exchanges I have even been in.

After umalis ni Lexie, Deanna was in a sour mood the whole day.

She kept bugging me about the admission form and I tried to underrate it too pero sa totoo lang, some part of me yearns for that kind of opportunity.

Hindi din naman kasi basta basta yon.

I looked it up online at ang ganda naman talaga nung marine reserve and most of all, what they're doing does really have a huge impact.

Should I just let this pass? This could be my lucky break.

Ang daming nag-aapply dito sa lahat ng sulok ng mundo and this one literally just fell into my lap.

Or should I gamble everything on Deanna?

Oo masaya kami ngayon but what if that's just because we're so isolated here? What happens when we go back? When we're both surrounded by other people and other choices again? Would we still choose to be with each other? What if bumalik si Raphiel sa kanya?
