DARYL

TAYLOR GOT NO SLEEP AT ALL
last night.

Daryl didn't get any himself; Taylor's cries and whimpers keeping him up throughout the night.

He wasn't mad at her for it...he couldn't bring himself to be mad at her...not after what she saw the other day...

Sometime during the night, the redneck had rested his head on top of his folded arms with a sigh, staring up at the ceiling of his shared tent with the young teen.

The young girls voice came out as a whisper, "...Daryl...".

"What?" He replied, glancing over at her, seeing her sit up in her sleeping bag, pulling her legs to her chest as she wrapped her arms around them.

"...Do you think we're gonna die?..." She asked him, and he could hear the fear in her voice.

"Kid, we all die one day." He muttered, "Now why don' ye try an' get some—".

"I mean the walker's, Daryl. Do you think the walker's are going to eat us?" She elaborated on her question.

She looked down at him this time, and the youngest Dixon looked over the young girls face as the moonlight seeping into their tent shone over her pale skin.

Her eyes were puffy and red from all the crying she had been doing for the past few hours, and her hair was a disheveled mess from everything she had gone through since the last time she showered using the one in Dale's RV.

Her face was free of blood now though, as Daryl helped her wipe her face off a few hours ago.

"I-...I ain't gonna lie te ye...I really don' know what's gonna happen from this point on. The world's gone te shit...an' the chances o' order bein' restored is slim te none. It's stupid...but I really thought that this quarry was actually safe from the walkers. That was a dumb fuckin' idea. Truth is is that nowhere is safe from the walkers. Everywhere we go, Taylor, there's probably gonna be walkers, an' there's a chance that they could kill us. I can promise ye one thing, though. No matter where we go, I'll protect ye from 'em the bes' I can. There's only so much I can do...but yeah..." Taylor dried her teary eyes at his speech, a smile cracking on her lips.
